Am I a B&G guy yet????

Postby Bob B » Mon Jul 28, 2008 5:18 pm

I was going to post this in the "This seasons stats ......... what is yours"? but like always I couldn't just post my results and leave it at that. So, I decided to move it to a new thread for those who like to read something other than a comic book. You know who I'm refering too.

And seeing there is still one more week to go or two more touneys for me to play I thought it didn't seem right to say what my results for the season were seeing it's still going.

So, seeing there's still a couple more games to go for me and I have only played 20 NPL games for the season. My reasons for such a low count was that I was getting to the stage where I was looking for something or somewhere different to play. Or, maybe just give it up for one season as I wasn't enjoying it as much as I was before.

The Flying Club changed it's colours so I tried the Cavan but it didn't have what I was looking for so I continued to play at the Parafield Gardens Community Centre.

As I said previously, I was looking for a change or a break from my regular venues and Jerry Ison suggested to try the Kingy in the B&G region for something a little different.

Well, I did go to the Kingy and I must say it has brought back the old fire in the belly. I seen it as, may I say, a real challenge to play against some of these guys. The first night I finished 8th, followed by a 9th, a DNP, then another 8th and then another DNP. So, after making 3 top table finishes from 5 starts I was back in the swing so to speak.

The meals are great and I found everyone there to be friendly. Then I jokingly said "I came here for a challenge and have hit 3 final tables after only 5 touney's I thought you played hard here"??? They realised I was only joking or at least I think they did. :o

So, they suggested, "If your looking for a challenge go to the Wheat Sheaf at Virginia". Wow, Virginia my old stomping grounds where I had the pool hall and some glass houses back in the dark ages.

Well I did and I took Jerry with me for support, LOL. Top meal renewed aquaintances with some guys we played against at PGCC. Made final table on the first night and finished 5th.

I must admit they do play a little different there and I couldn't wait to tell the Kingy group that I made final table. To top off a good week I made another final table at the Kingy finishing 9th after Cooky knocked me out.

The following week I managed to make points finishing 12th at the Wheaty and a 5th at the Kingy. The next week at the Wheaty (last week) I made final table and took out the tourney for my very first win.

I bombed out badly at the Kingy for a DNP but the win at the Wheat Sheaf was worth it. All in all, I've had a pretty good opening run with the B&G boys and gals and have made some new friends along the way.

So, my first win, making the reginals for the first time and hopefully, I can hold on for a top 5 at the Kingy to make it a great season.

So, my stats are as follows. One tournament win from 20 starts.

20 ......... overall games in total

7 ......... final tables

4 ......... outside final table finishes

11 ........ times in the points

9 ......... DNP

11 ......... B&G games

7 .......... final tables

1 .......... outside final table finishes

3 .......... DNP

If you get to play the Regional, then you are one of them.

So yeah Bob, you're a B&G'er... we don't want you in the Norf anymore ;)

Nice B&G stats BTW.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

u know you are a B&Ger when

- You get smashed by honi at the regionals
- You pay out AK about his hair - actually u dont have to be a B&Ger for that!
- You laugh at bruce for being the tightest player in the world - at which point he is still in the tournament and u have been out for 20 mins
- You have played at either tanunda or the sir john at kapunda
- You remember when u used to go to the old spot to play poker, but would NEVER venture there for any other reason
- You call bennymacca down with 5 3 on a AAK3Q flushed board and catch him representing with nothing.
- you have admired the "interesting" play of the non-regulars at the kingy
- You know that matty norwood is a crap dealer but thinks he is awesome
- You know that darren is a crappier dealer but thinks he is better!
- YOU KNOW THAT B&G IS THE BEST REGION IN THE STATE!

lol any more that people can think of?

- You've met Bruce
- You can finish Darren's jokes for him
- You've been to another venue and got 1 stamp for your coke, then wondered how the hell people deal with this on a weekly basis
- You've listened to one of my bad beats
- You've endured a drunk Zack
- You've knocked out Todd Fullagar :D

I also wear wellies to bed. And I think that Aarons hair is a tribute to someone in his life that had a bad experience. :o
And our Bruce is a folder not a scruncher and Shreky is worth jack-shit on FacebooK. :o
Well the TD's are out of another box M8 ............ errrr, ummmmmm, very well respected by all the players
And Zack, what can I say about Zack. Absolutely friggin nothing. :o

You wonder whether bennymacca'a more highly skilled brother will ever come back to increase the standard a little.

You remember shannon having to talk sense when she TD's the old spot (as compared to now), and her brother Rory, the only player more LAG than Zac.

You knew who "the good bar people" were at each venue.

You saw Paul O'reilly play and wondered how the hell that guy ever won a state final.

You drove past the southern when it had a rival league, but never went inside to play.

You've seen shrekky improve from the worst player ever, to the 5th worst player ever.

You played at the sir john franklin in kapunda and got a key-ring just for registering.

(sigh) i miss the B&G sometimes.
