And seeing there is still one more week to go or two more touneys for me to play I thought it didn't seem right to say what my results for the season were seeing it's still going.
So, seeing there's still a couple more games to go for me and I have only played 20 NPL games for the season. My reasons for such a low count was that I was getting to the stage where I was looking for something or somewhere different to play. Or, maybe just give it up for one season as I wasn't enjoying it as much as I was before.
The Flying Club changed it's colours so I tried the Cavan but it didn't have what I was looking for so I continued to play at the Parafield Gardens Community Centre.
As I said previously, I was looking for a change or a break from my regular venues and Jerry Ison suggested to try the Kingy in the B&G region for something a little different.
Well, I did go to the Kingy and I must say it has brought back the old fire in the belly. I seen it as, may I say, a real challenge to play against some of these guys. The first night I finished 8th, followed by a 9th, a DNP, then another 8th and then another DNP. So, after making 3 top table finishes from 5 starts I was back in the swing so to speak.
The meals are great and I found everyone there to be friendly. Then I jokingly said "I came here for a challenge and have hit 3 final tables after only 5 touney's I thought you played hard here"???
So, they suggested, "If your looking for a challenge go to the Wheat Sheaf at Virginia". Wow, Virginia my old stomping grounds where I had the pool hall and some glass houses back in the dark ages.
Well I did and I took Jerry with me for support, LOL. Top meal renewed aquaintances with some guys we played against at PGCC. Made final table on the first night and finished 5th.
I must admit they do play a little different there and I couldn't wait to tell the Kingy group that I made final table. To top off a good week I made another final table at the Kingy finishing 9th after Cooky knocked me out.
The following week I managed to make points finishing 12th at the Wheaty and a 5th at the Kingy. The next week at the Wheaty (last week) I made final table and took out the tourney for my very first win.
I bombed out badly at the Kingy for a DNP but the win at the Wheat Sheaf was worth it. All in all, I've had a pretty good opening run with the B&G boys and gals and have made some new friends along the way.
So, my first win, making the reginals for the first time and hopefully, I can hold on for a top 5 at the Kingy to make it a great season.
So, my stats are as follows. One tournament win from 20 starts.
20 ......... overall games in total
7 ......... final tables
4 ......... outside final table finishes
11 ........ times in the points
9 ......... DNP
11 ......... B&G games
7 .......... final tables
1 .......... outside final table finishes
3 .......... DNP
