Thanks for getting around to replying Garth, I was keen to hear your thoughts

Garth Kay wrote:We cannot promote gaming in any way, how many venues did you attend in Qld, in Victoria or SA this type of practice would be highly illegal and get the company and players in all sorts of trouble.

Interesting! I only attended one place in QLD where this was done, if you would like details, please PM me

Garth Kay wrote:If we spent just $20 on a venue winner prize we are then looking at almost $3,000 every season on that prize. $20 doesn't exactly buy much, and $3,000 can go along way in a promotion or marketing scheme where we see a return for our dollar spend. In saying that I have heard of several venues that will be doing a venue leader prize for their leader.

There is just no incentive to spend in that area, as it does not increase numbers at the venue, attract greater numbers or retain players. But there will be a bonus for all venue winners as next season's state finals.

Interested to hear more about the incentive of finishing 1st at a venue next season.
Perhaps NPL could encourage venues to provide "end of season" prizes to reward people who come week in week out.

Garth Kay wrote:So we might possibly see new prizes season after next, although I still hear stories of players chasing a hat or bottle opener today.

If someone wants a hat, I'm willing to trade...

I already promised 2 to the winner/s of the NPLSA footy tipping comp. If they're still wanted they are free to be collected. I might have to pass them onto a TD, or something though. Then again, I could hold onto them - it'll give you guys another excuse to come down to the Kingsford

But yeah I never use my bottle openers. Or my keyrings, for that matter. The trophies sure do look nice though :D

I've got some ideas for new prizes for NPL.
- Subscription to Bluff magazine (may need to be every so often as I can see this getting expensive)
- Stubbie holders
- NPL coaster (just got the idea by looking at my trophy, the green one)
- NPL ring - tournament winners only.
- Deck of cards (please bring back the Party poker cards, they were the best prize NPL ever offered!)

Stubbie holders - now I like that idea.

You get a keyring - cool. You get more - you don't need them.
You get a bottle opener - cool. You get more, well one or two maybe, for the pool room, but you don't need that many.

You can only read about Shane Warne a certain amount of times at the Aussie Millions!

But you can never have too many stubbie holders!!

I once got a stubbie holder as a prize for being 1st out from a final table at Studio 89. It was a coopers one - have no idea who supplied it, but you are right - an NPL one would be good

Yep - but how many do you need? then again, I don't actually use mine very often so I wouldn't know how quickly they wear.

but what would they do with the 12 month old copies then?
