That was before I knew how many runners there were.

With $19,000 at the start of the second session you should not be expected to make the final table (third session, yes) - unless that's your goal and you play very tight the rest of the night. Anything can happen within the next 40 minutes before the final table. xtal could've call a few all ins and get knocked back to $9,000, then hit nothing and be killed with blinds. With $19,000 at the start of the second session a points finish is very likely (providing xtal plays tight the rest of the night). Final table? Not so much.

xtal: ...sigh. Seems I can't say anything on this forum without offending someone anymore.

I wasn't being mean to you about anything. I guess I just read too much into your "did not win " statement and took my musing too far - it looked to me like you expected to win.

$19,000 at the start of the second session is an amazing achievement, like Garth said, you would have had to knock 6 or 7 players out.

One hell of a rush!!! Nothing better when you just start eliminating player after player in a tourney. Unless it's your brother and then your father on his birthday in his first "real" live poker tourney.
That felt pretty bad.
Good work, Crystal. Next time you get a lead like that just really tighten up your game and calling is no longer a part of the betting process if you're playing it's with a raise or re raise. Until the blinds get to 300/600 and you stack hasn't improved dramatically. It's tighten up even more and you cannot continue past the flop unless you have two pair or stronger, and if you do continue you're opponent cannot continue past the flop for less than all in.
Just my quick guideline for playing the big stack, but it changes a lot. Playing the big stack is one of the more difficult parts of the game. Playing the short stack is easy you have one move and all you need to know is your odds and whether you believe you have the best hand.
Playing the big stack is pretty difficult and I struggle most times with it as well.

Sorry???
I'm confused, with a stack of this nature in this tournament "you should not be expected to make the final table". So at what stage of a tournament should you expect to make the final table or with what chipstack? Every poker player when they sit down at a table should be expecting to make the final table, every player!
Just revise the above statement. You give me that chip stack at the first break I and many other NPL players will make the final table 66% of the time guaranteed.
Change it to that the odds of making the final table have improved slightly or your odds of placing have increased dramatically just not something that can be construed as "it doesn't matter how many chips you have or at what stage of the tournament, YOU should never expect to make the final table"

You enjoyed every minute of it.

Should have given Dad back his "pocket money" though.

Brett.

Edited by Garth because my brother is a tool. He's a good brother and is a good contributor to this forum but sometimes he just does one stupid thing and it's fun to point out.

ROFL

Given the turbo blind structure in place, having a large chipstack at the end of the first break doesn't really mean a great deal (not that I'd know lol). I've seen it happen countless times now where a player has a truckload of chips early on and promptly lost them all well before final table.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
