888PL 24h Cash Game

Postby trishan » Thu Jun 03, 2010 8:40 pm

Garth came up with a few good ideas in another thread regarding an 888PL 24 hour cash game. I think something like this should be organised around the GF now that we have a date and I am happy to help in anyway possible with live reporting/organisation. Here is a summary of the ideas floated about:

[*] Probably best to have it $0.5/$1 blinds to make sure lots of people can play
[*] Somewhere in venue in Melbourne
[*] Live reporting/webcast
[*] State of Origin twist

Only real question is if you can have a cash game legally and if not how can we work around this.

Let's discuss.

Well I would imagine sometime around the GF which is 27-29th August. Either before or after. This way the Adelaide boys and the country Vic people who make the trip down for the GF can participate as well.

Where? Well Garth said he could possibly organise a venue.

I will contribute to this thread after some players have posted more ideas/feedback.

$0.50/$1 blinds sounds right.

Establish a minimum buy in. $100 sounds good.

Not self dealt, 888pl supply a TC to do so.

I have noticed that the South Australian guys are organising one soon, i'm sure after they complete theirs they will be able to identify problems they encountered, things that made it great etc....

Their feedback would be very relevent.

What about mixing up the game a bit ? Perhaps PLO would not be everyones cup of tea but a few rounds of 'crazy pineapple' should mix it up for hold'em fans. Or limit holdem for a bit.

Pot sweeteners supplied by 888pl (perhaps merchandise or sattelite entries or $$)

Yes I think if AK and people who go to the South Australian game could provide feedback then this could help a lot in ironing out any potential problems.

I think benny the cunt said the buy-ins for the SA one was anywhere between $20 and $100. I think minimum buy-in should be $50. The idea is to get as many people playing as possible.

Another idea was to have different stakes at different times. So maybe $.25/.50 for 3 hours, $.5/1 for 6 hours and higher or lower as the players may elect. I think you could also do this with other varities. Have it run for a certain amount of time. The majority of time though should be NLHE at 100NL/50NL.

I think 9-handed is best during peak time to allow more players to play. Depending on demand, you could have two tables running during peak. Then in off peak you could have 6 handed. Out of interest - how many people would play the graveyard hours, say 12am-6am?

Here's a sample schedule just to get the thought process rolling:

Table 1

10AM-2PM 6-handed NLHE $0.25/$0.50
2PM-9PM 9-handed NLHE $0.50/$1.00
9PM-12AM 6-handed NLHE $2/$3
12AM-10AM Player's Choice

Table 2

10AM-1PM 6-handed PLO $0.25/$0.50
1PM-5PM 9-handed PLO/NLHE/Crazy Pineapple/HORSE $0.50/$1.00
5PM-9PM HU NLHE $0.50/$1.00
9PM-12AM 6-handed NLHE $0.50/$1.00
12AM-10AM Player's Choice

i think minimum buyin of 20 is ok. better to get more people to play.

i dont think you need to worry about changing the stakes.

24 hours is a very long time, and as the game goes on, people are going to get extremely deep. i dont think people with $300 in front of them will be uncommon.

now if i have worked hard to get a 300bb stack, and then all of a sudden the stakes get raised and i only have a 150bb stack, that is going to really suck. i think changes in the stakes should only be initiated if the players on the table agree.

Hmmm that's a good point. What if there was a rule that players could "bank" any profits from one session before starting another session at a different stake.
