Furthermore, if 888 had a problem with this thread, they would've already said.

You're also assuming that everyone that will be attending mine was always going to go the Kingsford/other 888 events.

We're going to have like 30 players, max. Not really an issue dude.

That's cool AK. I'm just putting it out there. 888 supply this great tool for us to use and I can just see a conflict of interest. That's all I'm saying. There is potential for it to snowball with others choosing to use this as a precedent to discuss / promote their home games or any other game in fact which aren't in the interest for 888.

Either way, I think it's a great idea. I was thinking about doing the same for NYE but never got around to it.

I quite like Garth's idea.

What benny the cunt said, this forum is owned and operated by players of 888pl, not 888pl themselves. Fwiw, this isn't the first time home games have been discussed on this forum. Its only on here because we all play poker together, even outside of 888pl. Here we can discuss the proper goings on of said event.

Looking forward to seeing you there :)

i think the problem with this is that it gives incentives for people to quit the game.

if i have crushed over the first 5 hours, there is a fair chance i would stop playing and hope that my win rate was enough to get me the prize. this is why i like the overall, because it encourages the winning players to stay longer, just in case someone else goes on a heater.

What's the jackpot award? and why would I want to quit the table if I'm crushing it.
Not arguing or anything, just saying!

bennymacca wrote: the idea would be that most people would try to go for 24hr, with a few coming and going.

so if it means that you start with 2-3 tables worth of people, but at 4am there are only 5 players left, then so be it.

you say you want to stagger entrants, but this wont really solve the above problem - noone is going to START playing at 4am.

so i think the answer is to have enough players start the game - ideally at least 20, that there will still be some around in the wee hours.

then hopefully the game might fill back up later as more people come

This is the way to go imo. If there are prizes for longest lasting etc, nobody will want to only join at midnight or whatever. I think everyone that keen for this event would like to see if they can actually play for 24 hours, many wont make it and so the tables may shrink accordingly.

fwiw i dont think ill last the 24 hours, but i would love to start at the beginning and see how long i can last for. Of course people dont have to be there from the start, and can arrive any time they like, but i think the above is the best way to go about it.

if there are 4 tables of people keen then it may even offer the opportunity of offering some different stakes (i.e. one table of 10/25 and another of 25/50, or even 10/25 HA). Tables can form and break according to demand - the idea of an independent floor manager might help here too. Perhaps this last paragraph is making the event too hard to handle, and perhaps their wont be numbers to make different stakes/variants possible, but its just an idea. I think the easiest way to work out prizes for most money won etc if to have it as a simple $won calculation. Peer pressure will be enough to stop people leaving the game early, and we would assume any extra money they could win in future hours would probably outweigh any extra money they get from a side bet anyway. plus one would assume their would be prop bets coming out of our arses, so its probably all good anyway... im just rambling now...

One table of dealers choice/8 game and another of PLO/NLHE orbits?

You'll have all the Murrins and Kays involved then.

No probs AK and Ben. Thanks for the feed back. I just wasn't sure what the protocol was. Glad that's been cleared up.

I'll have to add PLO orbits, otherwise the Murrin's won't come :(
