for the first article, i am thinking of doing a holdem manager tutorial (or maybe even poker tools in general), as well as explaining some of the stats that go along with it.

just lately there seems to be a lot of questions about this

Ben: Yeah, but he never visits. He's a TC in Melb, has a blue name and all. Josh Reynolds.

Essentially we discuss hands that we each have in our database, and go over different ways to play them. Instead of c/r the turn shoving river, can we c/c and lead? etc.

Basic hand discussion, but nothing as in depth as this is planning to be (I should've clarified this before posting).

Im keen to join this. I think its a great idea. People can post cliffnotes/important bits of the books they are reading etc too. This could be really good.

Def in!
How would topics be chosen? Make a weekly list and vote?
I think jumping straight into HEM or other software is probably a bit too much, especially as you wish newer players to join in.
Its my opinion that until you have a reasonable game without any software, its of little use, but thats just my opinion.

Also, perhaps once a topic is chosen, anyone can do research/contribute initially, as well as in the after-discussions.

Oh, and the articles idea was just on straight-forward topics like pot odds/outs etc that you mentioned posting about. It was meant as a time saver for you, as there are many good, well written articles already out there...

Instead of poker software as 1st topic, I will have a think else we could discuss, and repost if I think of anything worthwhile.

Excellent idea benny the cunt, and i think to get the most out of this, we are def going to have to put our own play under peer-review? ie Whole tournaments not just single hands. Not sure exactly how that could be done here, but would be useful...
Edit: re 2 thread, as i said, I think would be even better to get a collection of hands, rather than individual ones. Allows others to study them, see the players image evolve, opponents play etc, and then discuss pros/cons.

Maybe another sub-forum like the 'Poker in General -> Hand Discussion' could be created for this?
May I suggest 'Poker in General -> Study Group'?
perhaps as benny the cunt suggested 2 threads per week, 2 sub forums of this for Theory and Analysis or something similar?

Am rereading Ace on the River, Barry Greenstein atm, sure I will have something to report on that... certainly already thought of posting a few funny quotes from the book...

Edit: Garth, share then?
