we quite often have 5 or 6 of us sitting on the same table.
it means that its harder to qualify, because we would most certainly be better than the average player, but it makes for a fun night.
in general, i dont worry about point scoring in venue, and i have much more fun.

I used to do that, stand at the bar until there were only a few seats left, thereby leaving it to chance who I was seated with, but now I'm definitely with benny the cunt here, do you practice table selection online?
Why not in-venue then?
Maybe you cant in buyin events, but it definitely makes the foundation events more fun, and thats what I am there for... I only have 1 or 2 personal friends from outside poker that play, and only 1 regularly, but there are quite a few I have gotten to know at the pub who play well, and by this I also mean the game runs well and fast, and they dont do silly things like moan at flops or otherwise indicate what they have folded, so now I always try to sit with them.
Fun is the reason I play these events, and to socialize with a few other poker 'fanatics'... If it was a matter of the points, as benny the cunt said, online is usually easier to get them, and if its about money, well I would be much better off staying at home

But also remember, as in the case of the woman who called your 8.5BB raise with 76... you should
LOVE her making that call as you are going to smash her most of the time. I think every venue (even online game?) has those who make plays that leave us scratching our heads thinking wtf? (and often beat us) And when they do (beat us) I try to remind myself that, in the long run, we want these calls, because the majority of times we will win: Pokerstove reports you with over 57%
equity here if both opponents hands are offsuit, and only slightly less if suited is possible, so gladly accept their calls as you are stacking them most of the time...
Your winrate is over twice that of A5o and over 3 times that of 76o. And if you forget the A5 hand, then about 5/6 times you are stacking her.
