on friday night, i bubbled 3 tourneys out of the 5 i played.

then i went and played some 6max sngs, (top 2 get paid) and i finished 3rd or 4th in 7 out of 10, bubbled 5.

we all go through those patches, the mark of a good player is how you handle them. and i dont handle them very well :D

Neither does Garth, Suprised the desk has held up. :-). Except he is playing MTT's and people put their money in behind and he is getting sucked out on.

My bad beat at the moment is NO poker site wants my Credit Card at the moment.

New Bank account tomorrow.

78 tournaments played since Saturday.

Bublled 12 - 1 major cash, 13 minor cashes (the 1 major cash made my weekend break even, until I played yesterday).

I am running about 680 BB's below expected when putting my money in as a 60% fav or greater.
I have had so many guys stack off with A high against me on a flop where only an A on the river can save them and it has hit about every time.

The culmination of the weekend's beats resulted in the following 2 beauties:

1.) 20+2 $1,000 GTD

On a board of J 6 6 - villain re raises my c bet all in and I snap him off with QQ - he has A 2.
Turn = 6
River = 6

2.) 15 + 1.50 $1,000 GTD

On a board of T, 8, Q, Q I move all in for 3,200 into a 9,000 pot for the monster chip lead, I hold KQ. Chip leader snaps me off - YAY!!! with J, 7 DOUBLE YAY!!!!

River = 9.

This is the worst downswing I have ever experienced, I am 16 from 103 when racing preflop with either Hero or Villain all in in a HU situation.

It's not only the beats but the coolers - I have had 24 set over set situations which I have been on the losing end off, I have run 2nd nut flushes into the nuts on at least 8 occasions now and the creme de la creme is constantly hitting trips on a safe rainbow board only to find out on the river that my kicker is no good on 12 different occasions.

Oh and running JJ+ into one rank higher again and again in the late stages of the tournament.

LOL, it's been a crazy weekend, and I am hoping all this run bad is out of the system before I start playing seriously again in May!!!

I understand your pain Garth. Some times I am so far in front and then bam runner runner flush with ace rag beating my pocket kings. This weekend has just been madness. The guy with the 8 4 suited spent 10 minutes trying to convince all that his play was good. And this was in response to my "nice hand good luck all". How more gracious did he want me to be. All I can do is smile and say that is poker. Starting to get angry with it though and that is why I am taking a break. I have never been an angry poker player and dont want to start now.

YeaH I read your FB status and totally empathised with your situation Gayle.

It sucks when we hit these downswings, the funny thing is; in the comfort of my own home i freaking lose it and start smashing things or trying to break tables. But in a casino or live event I'm like meh!

I remember one of my FT at the casino, it was four handed, 75K for first. I raise on the button with AA and SB re pops all in, I snap and he rolls JJ. J on the door and I'm crippled by the river.

In that hand I just shrugged and shook his hand, gg, etc.....

I think I get more annoyed with online play because some of the beats are so sickening, half the time i'm just dumbfounded as to what they're still doing in the hand or how they can think 22 or A high is good on that board. I think online players rely too much on luck or the fact that maybe I'm making a play here. I can't blame Colin for shoving with JJ short handed in that tournament especially with me raising on the button.

The end scenario though is the same as the live hand above. I got my money in good, I got my opponent stacking off with a sub par hand to mine and he got lucky. I just don't know why it angers me so much when it's online.

I was multi tabling 10 tournaments, in 6 of them I all went out simultaneously when I pushed with and found myself in a race situation. i lost 6 coin flips in a row for my tournament life in 3 minutes. I went mental!!! I need to find my happy place!!

thats what i think the problem is with online.

live, you only get 1 beat, so its easy to shrug it off. but online, when multi-tabling, it is pretty easy to cop a few beats in quick succession. that sends me nuts, and it is why i am a breakeven/losing player in cash games at the moment.

I was break even over the weekend. I am now busto in my accounts.

I spent over $1,000 in tournament buy ins and lost over $300 playing 50NL and 100NL NLHE/PLO. Sucky weekend, well really suck Easter Monday.

I will get back into it, and the positive to take away is soon as I can start running at neutral EV I might actually start making money again.

i have been breakeven for the better part of 6 months now.

i know it started off as a downswing, but now i think i have lost that "something" that was making me win before. or maybe i just had an insane run-good patch at the start, and now i am playing at my proper level.

it is making me question my game. and re-think every decision i make. which in turn makes me play worse, and then i tilt more, and its a downward spiral.

any tips from people? i changed sites and even switched back from cash to SNGs, but i am still breakeven or slowly losing. it is doing my head in.

edit: this started when i put pressure on myself to try and make enough money to supplement the holiday we are having next year. could be something to do with it?

I was holding it pretty good Garth until the guy started to justify his bad play. Did not say anything to him except for nice hand good luck all and then when he started to justify his play "hey that's poker". Then he went on an on about what great play he thought he had done and that is when I closed the page and banged my head on the wall for the next hour. I mean he sucked out and I had been very gracious what more did he want. I am sorry for my language on face book I was very frustrated at the time and had a huge headache from the head banging prior.

benny the cunt I wish I had the answer to your question. All I can say is relax and trust in your ability. You are a great player and if you remember that you are halfway there to winning.

As for Garth what advice can I give to the master. I am just glad I don't sit on your table. You will start to hit your stride again and will be back regularly turning a profit in no time.

And finally for me I know my biggest problem is playing games too big for my bankroll and they hurt so much when I loose. Also that I am getting very angry and while I need to be more aggressive with my play I don't want to be so angry when playing. I think taking a break and being more in control of my emotions and may help me find my way in my poker game and to make better decisions. If not I can always buy shares in the company that produces panadol and go back to head banging :D
