Donkeys

By definition (in Poker terms of course), exactly what is a 'donkey'? I hope I'm one, because no-one seems to like them :D

Seems to me that a 'Donkey' is someone who doesn't work out percentages and runs more on luck.

It's still there choice and I don't have a problem with it.

'Donkey' - Novice - we all start somewhere.

If you think 'I have an ace therefore I have to win' your ears are long and you have a tail :)
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

From a TDs persprective this is a Donkey.....

Donkey gets knocked out of a NPL tournament runs towards the TD throwing his arms around to gain his attention, said donkey starts to speak and says:

So i was Under-the-Gun with Ace Jack rite? I raise 4 times the big blind, some guy in late position calls me. Flop comes out 9,J,K rainbow. Im thinking im good here with middle pair but i wana check raise and so some strength, so i check, guy down the end bets 1/3 pot so i raise 3 times his bet. This is whee he should fold but he calls, im thinking what? probly calling me with pocket 10's and a gutsa. Turn shows a 6 of spades, i know that didn't help him and Im first to bet and now that i know he is on the draw so i smash the pot, i bet pot size which was about half of what he has left, he still calls and im like WTF? the river comes and ACE and im like all in, my two pair is all over him and he calls, i couldn't believe it!!!! head had pocket aces and hit a set on the river, it was so sick, he smooth called me all the way, i couldnt put him on aces cause he didn't raise.

Those are the stories i hear alot.... the guy with aces (awsome) the guy with AJ (donkey)

Just remember im still more than willing to listen to all the bad beat stories in the world. I will even be supportive, constructive and sympathetic.... how ever.... i do charge $5 per Story

Good luck dodging donkeys all!!

I have been charging $5.00 for any kind of poker stories for some time now. The saddest part of it all is that there have been a number of times at the Windsor last season when people come up to me at the breaks, actually gives me a fiver and then goes "now I can tell you all about my bad beat ...". Sad, but true.

If Nathan is going to charge $5.00 as well then I believe a price hike for me is in order. I shall charge $7.50 for every bad beat story or $11.00 for two bad beat stories with 24 hours. For that I throw in sympathy for free, but the tissues are extra.

What I was going to write is that in my travels I have heard and used the term "fish" a lot more than "donkey". I agree with Nathan's definition, though to me a "donkey" is a player who calls when most players on Earth would not. That is not to say that raising all the time is ok - I know there is a high premium these days placed on the hyper-aggressive style of play - but one would still be a donkey when a player raises into a pot when all reasonable indications show that they are well and truly beat.
