Watkin's Glen may be what he's referring to in regards to road tracks.

What? now your going in circles... The quote was in reply to your post asking if i realised there was a restriction on engine use, so I only highlighted that portion (and trimmed it) that showed I DID understand this...
It was in my OP.
I usually like to trim quotes to only the relevant bits, especially long ones, because I think its annoying when people quote an entire post to only reply to or comment on a small part of it... Not often is the entire post needed in the quote...

Yes, I did read what you had highlighted.

I just dont see how that confuses whether or not I knew of the restrictions, given i explicitly mention them in the unhighlighted portion?
What you highlighted makes sense in the context of whole paragraph.

Regarding what you wrote beneath that... the restrictions on engine usage IS to cut expenses... Why else are they restricted to 8?

Also, I misunderstood you originally, I thought you were saying it was unclear BECAUSE I had ommited from my quote, hence my circular comment, my bad... I see how it was intended.

Anyway, this is not really what this thread is about, so lets just leave it happily alone :)

To benny the cunt: I obviously underestimated the cost of engines, i thought prehaps $300K? and perhaps I should have said "Is the cost of engines really that much with repspect to the whole cost of operating an F1 team?"

a quick google, and i found this article from late 2008,

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsp ... 718682.stm

"We unanimously decided that by 2011 an engine will cost £4m, compared to the £16m plus they used to cost," he said.

mark webber earned 9 million last year.

so engines are at least the cost of a decent driver per year, and probably more.

i can see why they would want to limit the number per year

:shock: :o :shock:
{Edit: yes, now i can also see why}
In retrospect it should have been obvious to me I was underestimating the cost... FIA wouldnt restrict them unless they were a significant expense...
