Quads

What play would you recommend when you flop quads. I always tend to check to see who is going to bet. What do you think/recommend?
Cheers

depends on player tendancies, preflop action, stack sizes etc etc.

if you give us this sort of info, then we can get a discussion going

in general though, i ask myself. can i get it all in by the river if i check? if the answer is no, then i bet

If you're krunchie, represent K high and milk your opponent dry!!!!

Seriously, betting the flop generally gets you more chips than checking.....mostly because a bet usually means you don't have it.....
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

This actually happenned 2 me last night at a cash game at Tim Bredl's.

Had 88, raised to $6.50 (standard raise at this game)
Got 6 callers (standard at this game!)
Flop Ace (yuk) 8 (yesss!) 8  (squirt of wee comes out) - one 8 and the Ace are hearts.

CHECK!!!!!! There are several bets and an all-in (short stack, which i flat call also)

Turn is a heart (THANK YOU POKER GODS)

CHECK!!!!

Several more bets and another all-in (which again i flat call).

River is another heart and i put last remaining guy all-in for his final $20 - he folds.

I ship about $220 8-) 8-) 8-)

Todd, sounds like a great hand, but I think you need to take a bucket (squirt). If cards fall like that it is great, but often there is just nothing out there except for the pair on the flop that make your quads. ie. 882. if a picture comes out all is good but when crap comes out it is very hard to bet. This is where I have the problem. I know my betting tactics need a lot of work and this is my down fall in a lot of cases. If I bet on the flop I win but win nothing, if I wait to the turn and bet hard I have let someone else in. In quads that is great, but in other hands this is bad.

I have noted all suggestions and thank you guys, any more suggestions would be greatly appreciate as there are so many circumstances for this hand and I would like to try a few out and see how I go.

Yes I do hit quads on the flop every now and then and it is great.

Damn, nothing worse than hitting them on the flop and everyone folds and you've only made a minimum bet.

And yes Sin, my cat is great isn't it. He is a psycho cat who thinks he is a dog and human all mixed together. I love him to bits.
