It is more like 4:1 for KK....(just under)

yeah, "nearly priced in" is incorrect if you are talking about 2.3:1 (i think i said it originally when i mistakenly thought it was only 5k to call, giving him nearly 5:1)

I think we are all missing the point that whether it be divine intervention, dumb luck, or just spooky poker instict, HE DID THE RIGHT THING AND STAYED IN THE TOURNAMENT!!!

How many times have we watched the world series and said "how the hell do you lay that down??", only to see the hand play out and say "Ohh, you're a champ, no wonder you are on TV!!"

Let's be a little more encouraging around here (give advice, but encourage also, and give a little credit even if we disagree with the play).

BTW, well done Des, I thought you were the one to beat in that tourney....

in certain circumstances, you are right jmack. this is not one of them. bruce just got lucky, there is no way in hell you could specifically put someone on aces and aces only there. i could probably pull out hundreds of scenarios just like that one, i.e limp-> raise-> shove. i bet that not all of them are aces

this is what is called being results oriented. just because he ended up saving some chips in that scenario, doesn't mean it was a good move.

for every 1 time he folds there and stays in the tourney, there would be 5 times that it was a horrible fold and he misses out on chips. but bruce wouldn't dare post those times.

Yes, and have said that he did the wrong thing by not pushing straight away UTG. He prob woulda got called by both anyway, but shoving pre is the right move. However, given the way he played it, he coulda got away from it (which he did), so not all bad after the terrible initial play, as you can give him some credit for trusting his insticts......

Having said all that, neither played it the way I would have.

In Bruces case, I shove UTG pre

In Des's case, I bet maybe 2k less pre, and fold the allin raise.

But as I said, I am far from an expert...

these are both things i would have done too. 'cept i still may have called with the AK. but i thought the raise was quite big

LOL Des, I know your steaming (and not from Bruces fold), but that's no comparison mate....

(and the "limp" has already been covered)...

AceLosesKing wrote:There have been maybe 1 times out of 50 or so that when I've said "Oh he's so got Aces" he actually did have Aces. Yes, there are specific situations when a certain player with specific stats, in a certain position and stacksize... that read, or 'feel' can be made.

In a standard tourney vs a open raise (to fold here, Bruce would have to know that the players range for shoving over Des's raise is AA ONLY), I just don't think that's possible.

Aaron, that "1 time at band camp"......, I mean "out of 50", you had a read/feel, and that was my whole point, sometimes even if the maths makes sense, there are other factors involved.....

For the record, there is no reason for Bruce NOT to put either of his opponents on AA here, depending on the table read, DES def could have it, and the allin raise def has a PP, which could be AA, but an A is prob out there between them....

And we certainly shouldn't be belittling other 888pl players, particularly those that take the time to contribute to the forum.....
