you are def priced in for a flip, he may wake up with AJ/AQ and you are nearly priced in if he has KK.

Nearly ready to let this one rest, but Matt, just a quick question, how are you nearly priced in if he has KK there??
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

AK is a 3:1 underdog against KK. so if you are getting more than 3:1, then you should probably call.

yes, but if you call and lose, you still have chips to contend. either way, you are still middle of the pack.

but, a 40% chance of being chip leader? thats golden.

and in a 270 runner tourney where only 4 people get paid, i would much rather take the sizable chance at running up a huge stack

I am snapping a 20bb shove with AKo in a 888pl tournament when I've already put in 1/3 of the required amount.

Why is this even up for discussion, Bruce's limp fold UTG is horrible (its a limp shove if you're limping, but with that stack its just an open shove).

Don't be so results orientated - if I was lucky enough to have KK vs AK every single poker hand until I died, I will gladly take results that will in the end, fall my way.

that is a great answer Ben, thanks. Will definitely take that into account in future tourneys.

You've also answered my question to Matt I think in that he was incorrect in his statement?

Mate, not results orientated, just a table feel thing.

He should have shoved pre, I agree.

no worries. this has actually turned into a good discussion.

when i say take a chance to run up a stack, obviously i am not advocating just shoving every hand and hoping to win 4 in a row. but i think in this case, it is a great chance to win a huge pot.

yeah, 2.3:1 isn't enough if you KNOW he has KK and you have AK, but your read will never be that specific, so 2.3:1 is good enough most of the time

There have been maybe 1 times out of 50 or so that when I've said "Oh he's so got Aces" he actually did have Aces. Yes, there are specific situations when a certain player with specific stats, in a certain position and stacksize... that read, or 'feel' can be made.

In a standard tourney vs a open raise (to fold here, Bruce would have to know that the players range for shoving over Des's raise is AA ONLY), I just don't think that's possible.

Yeah, just got stuck on the actual quote of "you are nearly priced in if he has KK".

It is more like 4:1 for KK....(just under)

It was a dumb call by me.

saw it all not easy to fold in that position... treat it as a learning expierience...

Mistress Poker was almost there ;)

ask des about my fold to his AK that spiked his Ace nearly the best fold of my career.
