i voted for rann based on the fact that he called himself 'the education premier' and promised all sorts of better outcomes and more funding for schools.

truth is that he and lomax smith have completely lost touch with what happens in actual schools, and actually need to SAVE money from their education budget. The budgets that our coordinators have to submit (e.g. for PE equipment etc) are the same as they were 6 years ago. Just not enough.

When i could move two hours up the road to mildura and recieve an extra 7k a year (or move to perth for even more) it shows that our government doesn't really value education or educators.

the only scarier thig though is that the liberals have been even quiter on this issue. i might run for parliament.

Disappointing to hear from someone that is considering being a teacher. Maybe I'll go teach in Perth, watch some Eagles games? :D

Do it anyway man. our pay rise will come soon (its been 18 months now of negotiations and arbitration) but we will still likely only get 14% or so (with no back pay - hence why the government is drawing out negotiations).

Plus its not about the money, its a very rewarding job for lots of other reasons. And lets face it, its not bad pay, just less than other states at the moment.

Yeah, never been about the pay. I want to want to go to work each day, whatever I end up doing.
