I think if you have just bet, and you have a player thinking about the call, you can say what you like...

"Hey, I reckon you should call me.. I've only got a pair of 4's".

Whether that is true or not, it is up to you.

Or imagine you've got middle pair (say 8's) with a King on the board and there is a bet of 4x BB. You're the only one left to act, and so you say to better "I've got Pocket Q's.. that gonna beat you"... You could get a tell from them, cos they may be fishing for the str8 or flush...... I think if you choose to talk, then it is fine.

i think if you are in the hand, and you are talking to someone else that is in the hand, then that sort of thing is ok, but it really annoys me when someone starts saying that sort of stuff after they have folded, or even worse, a spectator

I've pulled players up, who on the river, say things like "So who's got the Ace high flush". So the rules must state something like "If you aren't involved in the hand, no table talk"

totally agree.

if you have a straight, and a third suit comes on the river, there is nothing wrong with you saying "so, chasing that flush" but if someone else says it, its not on. especially because some people dont actually know what they have and might actually fold a flush to a big bet.

lol i nearly did that a few weeks ago - was playing A7, top pair ace, and my 7 made a flush - i didnt see it until someone pointed it out at the showdown.

in this case, table talk should not tell me to watch out for the flush, bacause its my fault if i am not looking for it.

Agree

Someone's when you think you have the nuts, you're blinded by what could happen after that .. and someone mentioned something you didn't realise can really affect the hand.

table talk has worked to my advantage before though.

once i was making a massive cbet into a pot against someone that flopped a straight with rags. he just called, and gave up a third suit card on the turn.

another dude said "hes got the flush for sure," after which i promtly shoved all my chips in.

the other guy folded after a while and i took the pot down.

but table talk is at the very least annoying, and at worst can change the course of play.

Everyone agrees that if you are out of the hand then shut up. But can we have an official ruling on verbally representing your hand either truthfully or bluffingly (new word ;) ) to try to get a read or influence them in their betting.

include in this "verbally representing your hand and talking to an opponent without being agressive or calling them a 'donk if you call'" i think sort of thing is also a no-no

Agree with everyone else.

If you're not in the hand, shut up.

How about, 'shut up about the hand and like it' ?

There's a link to the rules on the left hand side of the main index.

What anyone thinks should or shouldn't be allowed really doesn't apply, if there's mention of it in the rules then that's what you're doing (or not doing).
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
