not necessarily a poker trip. but we have semi pencilled in a trip to europe in sept 2011. so by then, to have 10k from poker would be great.
i think that is a pretty tough goal for me at the moment, but i think it is attainable.

Break the goal down into smaller achievable goals. Be surpised how relaxing it can be, when you do it, make $50, make $150, Make $250.

Thinking of it along the way to Edwards tonight for their $20 challenge off season event.
But 10k, is roughly 200 per week. Working at 20 hours invested per week timewise, 10 per hour, achievable. Event at 15 per hour and spending less time per week. Could do that in sit n go's. But the grind would wear you down.
If not, go win a semi final, and then the grand final.

it is possible. i am currently running at approximately 10 per hour for the last month. hopefully i can move up limits soon and make that at least $20 per hour.
but yeah, winning a semi or grand final would be the way to do it

Re: Reflections on 2009 and Poker Goals for 2010
2009 oh wow, where do i start!
played my first real poker game in may, any other game up to then had just been mucking around, and i got hooked REAL quick, won 2 games and qualified for both semi's, ran deep'ish in both, 24th in challenge and 35th'ish in foundation. needless to say i was stoked! on came season 2, the addiction got worse, haha, ended the season with 5 wins and 2 outright venue wins, have qualified for both semi's again, needless to say Stoked! again
i have to give it up to all the 888pl staff and management, ive had a blast, and it wouldnt have been without the hard work put in by you guys! WELL DONE
as for goals for 2010:
im going to try and work on my deepstack game, as i find this format suits me better
work on my online BRM, i found out how much i should actually use it...
not gonna say ill read any books, but im definately going to try out a thing or two from pokerstrategy.com
and finally, im going to see if i can put my skills to use and apply for the 888pl team

Re: Reflections on 2009 and Poker Goals for 2010
2009 was a very good year for me. Made my first final table at 888PL and at Crown. Made my first heads up at 888pl and at Crown. Finished well up on the year and made a lot of new mates.
2010 goals?
To actually WIN a tourney
To get more well rounded in play.
To get to know people here and at the venues I play at more

Re: Reflections on 2009 and Poker Goals for 2010
2009 started awesomely for me when i had a tourny at my place on new years eve. We had over 30 runners and i busted out just before the bubble. This turned out to be a stroke of luck as i went and joined in at a cash table. The average stack was about $10-$20 so i didnt buy-in for my usual $50. Instead i bought in for $20. About 18hrs later i had EVERY SINGLE chip from 3 tables in front of me (about $1300) and had about $300 in I.O.U's.
Then on Australia Day i had another re-buy tourney at my place and took it out for over $400.
I achieved one of my poker goals in winning back-to-back 180 player tournies. i had come 1st and 2nd before and blew a huge chip lead in the 2nd one about 3 years ago, and thought i may never get the opportunity again, so i was stoked when it just happenned to be the first and only tourny i've played with other forum members.
I stepped up levels in live play (played melbourne champs $1100 main event and knocked out Monica Nyguen - finished 102/725)
Played a dozen $215 big events online and cashed 50% of them.
The downside was not being able to play in 888 events anymore, although my ego started to return after continual suckouts in those games!
I only finished $8k up this year which was a disappointment after previous years, but i put it down to the larger buy-ins and not playing within bankroll % requirements.
Also i lost a lot of cash to 888pl players later this year at home games. I've only just learned that after schooling most of these players for over two years now, they were onto how i played! I tried mixing it up but they were onto that as well!
I also got indefinitely banned from Pokerstars last month!
I should be setting an example so i wont say why!
My highlight for the year though was at the staff xmas party when i continually called down Butlers bluffs with Ace high or playing the board and got him every time! He is the easiest player to read EVER for me, but i've played against him enough to know. I used to look up to his style of play (his poker knowledge is very solid as are his skills) but now that i can read him every time, his skills are useless!
Goals for 2010.
I want to final table a big buy-in on-line.
I want to final table a major live event.
I want to convert every PS and FT player to 888 after March. You guys are gonna love it!!

Re: Reflections on 2009 and Poker Goals for 2010
2010
Goals
* become more disciplined with my play
*Finish reading Slansky's Theory of poker and make a start on some of the others
*Beat this years highest cash.
*To make the money on the state leader-board and beat my husband highest ranking. Made it to fourth this year which equals his best. I did play less games than he did with his and had a better average but as he likes to remind me he got paid for his.
*To cash in a least 1 state final. Doesn't have to be big just make the money.
*Continue to work on my live game and to talk less at the tables.
*To not be so reckless in freerolls
*To be less angry with my poker. I have never been an angry player but the last month I have been. Still mild compared to most but I don't like being angry it takes away from the enjoyment of a game I love.
*To finally conquer the maths side of poker. I know the basics but want to go to the next level.
*finish my renovations
*be a better driver
*to get the courage to go and see showtek in Sydney this March
*meditate and exercise more
*be happier, healthier, luckier and wiser than I was in 2009
Wow didn't realize how big this list would be. Wish me luck in my endeavors as I wish you luck in yours.

Re: Reflections on 2009 and Poker Goals for 2010
All the best to all ...
I set a few goals last new year and was more than pleased to reach them (albiet the small goals i set
)
All i want is to learn a little more than i have this year .. oh and to love my children more than i do (which may be my biggest hurdle for the year
)
As for the poker side ..toughen the F up and mebbi finish a tad better than 44th on the "home" leader board ( which i am happy with for my first season playing poker by the way
)
Suppose i should get out a little more and play live games so i can have a stab at the DT !
This years DT , you are officially on notice
!
Anyway heres wishing ALL the best for their plans and goals for the wonderful year of 2010 ..
Cheers Pheel
