I LOVE playing in venue (just ask anyone!!!), however, the number of venues that are available to me are decreasing at a rapid rate (I don't THINK that it's as a result of me, but you never know!)
Consequently, I supplement my venue games with online on the nights that I can't play out (yes, I'm definitely an addict), and not being able to play them in that 7-10pm slot will mean that I have less games overall available to me - just because I work full time I'm disadvantaged?????? Hardly seems fair.
I currently play 2-3 times a week in venue (based on what's available) and I think that's a pretty good effort - and on top of that, the nights that I'm home, I'd generally play 3 or 4 of the other games, but CAN'T manage the late games because of work.
IF you can get more venues, fantastic - until then - FAIRLY DISGRUNTLED!!!!

+1 mate im with you

but unfortunatley it seems we are the minority and we all know

majority wins
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

If you can't go out to a venue, then you will have to wait till the 9pm games to start.

We all have to remember that the money for all the great prizes 888pl puts up each season comes from the venues. Not running games online. If the numbers decrease at venues because everyone is playing online, then the prizemoney shrinks, and so do the prizes.

And never has a truer statement been said. There is even an inferior league in Vic pitching to venues we currently have signed: "888PL (NPL) are just trying to get people online now, not in venue". The accuracy of the above BS statement is irrelevant if the venues have the perception that this is true. This new timetable eliminates any doubts that venues may have (or have forced on them) about our intentions.

Can't help wondering what the venues were doing to get more people in the door other than complaining about players shifting to online......

Agree with the timeslot issue, not having online games in the 4pm-9pm timeslot doesn't automatically mean we're all just going to go to the pub. I like the idea of having only challenge games in that timeslot, seems to be a reasonable workaround.

If a venue would prefer we come and visit, how about they announce an incentive - it's not like they don't have the ability to do so on here and that would probably help them a lot.

The quickest and easiest way to get some info is to have a look online so the more venues that get on board with the fact it's almost 2010 the better for them I reckon. The amount of nanna's that have the internet now is crazy, announce some kind of pokies special and just watch them come out of the woodwork :P
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I would just like a confirmation from Garth or someone else who can provide a solid answer without any possible doubts.

There have been comments at different venues from TCs as well as players relaying TCs info from one venue to another that the combining of the Challenge and Foundation Semi-Final will happen for the next upcoming Grand Final.

Could someone please confirm this.

The next Grand Final would logically take place in January but I would like it confirmed that the proposed changes DO NOT in fact apply to this event but that the Challenge and Foundation games have their separate Semi-Final like last time.

As of 2010 the Challenge Semi Final will be disbanded. There will still be a challenge semi final for this season though. This will be held in Late Jan/early feb on the semi final weekend.

The Grand Final will take place in Feb during the weekend of 19th - 21st at the WAFC.

Thank you Garth

That's exactly what I wanted to hear.
It did sound odd to me when 'news' of scrapping the Challenge Semi for this season reached my ears. Considering how much time and effort has been put in by players that have focused on getting into both semi-finals...at least that wasn't wasted now.

2010 looks exciting though...

Glad to hear the GF is going to be held at the WAFC again Garth. The staff were very friendly and the atmophere was second to none and being able to use both rooms was an asset.

The WAFC has to go down as the BEST VENUE providing real food during the event as I'm sure others like myself were getting sick of precooked food in a box.

I didn't find the 'quick' food at the WAFC that great.

Overall, Port Club > WAFC for major events IMO.

I get bent over the table and ****** no matter what the venue is, mate ;)

Spoiler:
And I'll almost pity the genius who feels the need to turn that into a joke
