Computer Help

Postby Conspiracy Theorist » Sun Sep 06, 2009 12:34 pm

Some file called Desktop has saved itself all over my computer. It opens to a notepad file with the following text

text from file wrote:[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@shell32.dll,-21786
[LocalizedFileNames]
Windows Catalog.lnk=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-22075
Activate Windows.lnk=@%SystemRoot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe,-2000
Set Program Access and Defaults.lnk=@xpsp1res.dll,-10077

My AV software doesnt seem to have a problem with it. But I dont know how to get rid of it

I suspect what you've done is turn custom folders on, this then requires a "tag" if you like in each folder. This "tag" is called desktop.ini. I'm not familiar with turning them on/off, I just remembered that is where they "desktop.ini' came from :D

edit: could actually still be other things, but that is somewhere to start ;-)
