Re: New 888 Chips
The new chips were used in my venue today and yes the purples and blacks are very close. You had to keep a close eye on the change people take out of pots and several people made mistakes like meaning to raise 200 but putting one 500 chip out there and then people folding thinkinh it is 600 and not 200. Chaos.
But design wise they are pretty nice.

I'm lost with the above statement. But the dealer should be the only one handling chips .

Yeh the dealer made an error once and gave a 500 chip to someone as change thinking it was a 100.
The other scenario was someone meaning to raise to 200 and accidently put out a 500 chip. They just said "Raise" but not the amount so the person next assumed it was 600 and so folded. When the next player wanted to call he asked "600?" and the player said "No, 200". The player who folded said they might have called 200.

Re: New 888 Chips
They really should say how much they are raising to, for exactly that sort of reason.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Has nothing to do with the colour of 888pl's chips. Sounds like a player error.
Dammmmmmn, I really wanna try these new chips out!

Re: New 888 Chips
The new green/yellow chips are fine.
The black/purple chips are the problem - dark (plum?) purple looks like black in most low light pubs. The same edge markings on all chips does not help.
Bright purple would be much better!
BUT having new chips that have a nice weight and are clean is very welcome

This.
The 100, 500 and 5k chips are too close in colour. It has nothing to do with bad pub lighting, I've used them over a number of venues now.

Re: New 888 Chips
I second the notion that the green/purple/black chips are tough to tell apart, just played my first game with them and must admit I am not a fan.....
And I would like to nominate the Bended Elbow Geelong as the poorest lit venue on the circuit! Tourney is held on the dance floor so you can either get a dark corner or a spotlight in your eyes for the night!

If you ask me, Muhammed Ali in his prime was much better than anti lock brakes.

Re: New 888 Chips
I must confess the new chips look and feel fantastic!!
However, I am sorry to complain, they are very difficult to see in the dimmer areas.
Mainly between the purple and black ones.
We actually had quite a bit of confusion, even with strict pot control and other players watching the betting etc..
However I am thinking there is nothing that can be done about it, I guess that maybe getting a few opinions on them from players before investing might not have been such a bad thing.
