The perspective that I think may have been missing is blindly trusting something for no real reason written by a person you don't know yadda yadda yadda.

I'm sure you realise most people are super duper uber unbelievably gullable.

That's all I'm getting at, that and I don't know you therefore I don't trust you simply based on that. Nothing personal, just a rule of mine.

Good of you to post the source code etc though.

By this logic you would have needed to know every developer whos software you use?

Perspective...

A multi-million dollar software company v a random internet bloke.

That mostly started out as some random internet bloke...
And why should size affect trustability. Could be one rogue programmer within such a large corp that writes some malicious code into a product???
And is every piece of software on your machine from one of these companies?
You never run any applications you downloaded that was written by a single developer?

sometimes people give you reasons to trust them. sometimes they give you reasons to be wary of them.

i am guessing that pete has put more ticks for you in the second box.

having said this, i have downloaded your software, and it has yet to work for me! LOL

Pete doesn't wish to take that risk, that's his decision. He's also just voicing that opinion. Doesn't mean I'll listen to it.

I've downloaded your app, and it didn't work for me.. But it was something I was willing to take a risk on.

A rogue programmer could put something into software, but rigorous testing should stop that. I would assume a developer at, say EIDOS, wouldn't just be a random internet bloke, but someone who has got a degree somewhere, and that has been seen and proven by his employer.

You may be a qualified programmer, but I have no proof... yet I'm still willing to take that risk.

So I posted I have knowledge of computer security and hacking.
If anything, I would think this would indicate that if I was going to do anything illegal internet-wise, I think I'd aim a bit larger than a few poker accounts...
Can't really think af anything else I might have done to give him reason to mistrust me?

Personally, I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt, until they give me reason not to...

Dont have a clue why it won't work for you.
It has worked all but 1 of 100+ times for me, and that one it registered ok, just didnt click the final 'OK' which it needs to do to be able to unregister if neccessary. Thats now fixed, as that dialog accepts the Enter key as input so thats what the script sends...

OK, so now 2 people say it doesnt work...
All I can say is it works every time for me...

And Bacon, so its the qualification that makes them trustworthy? And no, rigorous testing is not guaranteed to stop it, especially if the programmer really knows what they are doing...

Edit: Do you realize how many programmers for large companies like Sun and Microsoft have never even set foot inside a University??

I have knowledge of Latin & what makes women tick.

Just because I post it, doesn't make it true.

Some people will automatically distrust until proven otherwise, whereas others will inherently trust until disproven.

And, think of it this way... Given your knowledge of computer security & hacking, wouldn't that make is EASIER for you to do something, "especially if the programmer really knows what they are doing"

I'm not implying you are, just saying I can see why Pete (and others) would be distrusting.
