i didn't think it did either, but i was just surprised at the "answer" of call, so it got me thinking a little more closely about it

So I wasted all that time writing out villains thought processes?

It's fun to discuss hands! Even if they are straight forward.

Yeh the actual only point of discussion is what the villain had and his thought process. So I think you summed it up pretty nicely in your post.

Isnt 25 a bit small as a river steal if we have AK or something?

Isnt this a discussion? Why quote my contribution telling me its ludicrous ar whatever?
ALK, I said if you sure he's bluffing... A flat and let him know he's bluffing has merit... As does a shove, either to put pressure on opponent or as Garth said to let him know (whole table) you aren't afraid of stickin it all in.

Edit: only 4 combinations of T7? I count 12?
Image ...11.59% of bad beat stories are just misplayed hands ...

I'm not saying it doesn't warrant discussion at all Garth - there are a couple of valid areas to dissect.

I think a flat call is more beneficial to the villain than us, in terms of setting up future plays.

Later, more often than not, we're tangling with villain with much less than 2nd nuts. Smart villain will use this to his advantage.

the villain check raises to 80 after we bet 25. which could be a valid steal attempt

so a discussion means we can only say your contribution is great? and aaron isn't allowed to give his opinion on the hand?

i discounted off suit combinations, i didnt think they were really possible given that villain limped utg

Because it is ludicrous.

I don't think I quoted anything of the sort Aaron, and I definitely didn't say anyone's point of view was ludicrous.

The bet on the river is what I like to classify as a value bet bluff. A weak bet put out on the river because hero is too scared to commit a large portion of his stack in with air here against an opponent who has played passively.

The value bet on the river is generally more scary to an intermediate opponent generally because it screams strength and "looking to get paid off". I actually have notes on opponents who will (for some weird reason) fold more often to river value bets and call down all ins or over pot bets on the river - because these style bets look too much like a bluff or marginal hand to my opponents due to my aggressiveness at a table, whereas my value bets look like I'm asking to get paid off. This is all in relation to my table image at the time though as well.

The only reason you would call is for betting knowledge.

If he has played top set weakly, or bottom set horribly. You would like to find out.

If he has played AK or other top 15% hands this way as well.

The power of information, by pushing all in over the top gives him the options of folding and mucking the cards, or calling and seeing your cards and pushing his into the muck.

So call is more of an information bet than anything in this hand.
