HALLETT COVE BLACKOUT!

Postby Tim(corey)Higgins » Thu Aug 06, 2009 10:29 am

I was wondering if someone can tell me the ruling (if any) on blackouts?

I arrived at approximately 6:45 whilst there was a blackout and i was informed the tavern was closing in 15mins and that the game was canceled. i stayed at the tavern for 5-10mins (in case the power return) then proceeded to another venue to play.

Looking at the results i noticed the game did in fact take place and i have now lost a position on the leaderboard. I wouldn't normally mind except for the fact that we are late in the season and i believe there was only approximately 20 point between 1st and 5th.

Why was i told at 6:50-7:00 that the game was canceled?

old man Swanky Ruling: You should be entitled to the points that 1st place received on that night. The only things you need to take into consideration are:
1: I'm an idiot that lives in a fantasy world where everything is made out of those super sour lollies.
2: See above.

From what you said, the hotel said they were closing. All the 888pl staff can do is act on that information. The hotel probably shouldn't have announced they were closing.

I'm trying to find the negatives in your post Tim. So you were unable to play at the Cove, and then made the trek to the Watermark where you had a great night with a great bunch of people at an event hosted by an awesome TC. Enjoyed a free feed at the second break (pies & pasties, spring rolls & more) and then got busted out just outside the bubble shoving with pocket threes. Oh yeah, now I see the problem.

Hi Tim,

I was in contact with Andre (Tournament Captain) several times last night regarding the black out. First contact was at 6pm. I told Andre to see what the venue could find out from ETSA. ETSA told the venue that power would be restored by around 9pm. I told Andre to wait until around 7pm regardless as ETSA are notoriuosly unreliable with their info. Got a text from Andre just after 7pm saying power was back on & the game was going to run as normal.

Who told you that the game was being cancelled?

You will not find any negatives in my post Matty, only query's.
You are right about the venue and food but i'm not sure about the "Awesome TC"
For your information I was busted on [3d 3c] because it was folded to me on the button so i shove to take the blinds and antes, BB calls because he couldn't lay down any kind of Ace. (He called with [as 2h].)

It was Andre who told me but i understand that he was only relaying information that he had been told by the management of the venue.

Thank you for the reply Tim.
