OK, some seriously funny stuff went down during the last 5ftp $5K tourney, this morning started about 9.45am:

First this hand early on, which I wasnt involved in after the flop:
Was mostly the post hand chat that made me laugh...

Post Hand Chat:
mizty209: WOW bold move 4 2 nh
pokerqn1975: Apparently bluffing
mizty209: kinda amusing lol
Me: calling with 42o is kinda amusing
pokerqn1975: I was in the blind
me: So?
pokerqn1975: NO WAY I had her on a Jack
me: What even pre?
mizty209: it was raised 4 times the blind
pokerqn1975: I read the cards right
pokerqn1975: sorry for you
mitzy: not mad, just wondering how someone thinks, when they play those cards on raised preflops
pokerqn1975: A9 garbage didnt get by
mizty209: easy to say after, when you right
pokerqn1975: you raised a minimal raise
me: Actually it was me and i raised 3BB pre
me: and u chk-called all the way, no raising post by anyone?
mizty209: poket 3s wouldve been good enough
pokerqn1975: maybe but i knew you didnt have that either
(Hmmmm, pokerqn didnt even seem to know what was really going on in the hand!)

A few hands later mizty209 is busted by another player...
pokerqn1975: bye d onk good game lol
:lol:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But wait it gets better!
a) From 17,261 down to ~9000 inside of 4x 10 minute levels! Droppin like flys!
b) THIS:

ALK decides not to play the last 5ftp $5K tourney, or fell asleep I suspect, we'd been playing all night and a bit of MSN chat...
Refer these posts

I opened his table to see if he was playing and found he had a bigger stack than I expected given he clearly was not playing. So I kept it open and watched, just to see what would happen, as he must have had a few walks prior to this. :? wtf?

Remember here folks he's folded every hand since he timed out the very 1st hand and dealer announces he is stting out!

After noticing him get a(nother) walk, I decided "this might get interesting, I think I'll open up notepad and take a few notes".... I'm so :D I did....

A few hands later:

ALK in BB, SB just calls and chks to river: (again~ wtf? :? ANY bet gives him an uncontested pot?)
Spoiler:
ALK wins a pot without playing.jpg

Twice, during level 7 alone, I saw SB give him a walk! :shock:
By this time we down to ~4600 out of 17,261 runners...

ALK: 325 - Blinds 100/200, he is BB - ANOTHER WALK!
(Is SB even paying attention to the player RIGHT NEXT TO HIM??? :lol: )

OK so after another orbit ALK is now down to only 25... 3618 left, 3600 cash... DING! Break time...

Can he possibly cash in a 17K runner tourney without doing a thing?????

Back from break... 4 hands until ALK is blinded out...
1 hand in, dead small so only 2 hands until he is BB

Hand for hand! He's gonna make it!....

Level ticks over while waiting for tables to finish the current hand: 120/240/25 He is allin on the ante next hand!
Spoiler:
And flips AQ for TPTK to win 225! ROFLMAO
YES, he cashes without a single action! ROFLMAO
ALK Allin on ante alone.jpg

Now he is BB, allin and get another friggin walk! up to 545 now! ROFLMAO
Spoiler:
Seriously what is up with this SB? a minraise gives him the pot??!
Another walk for ALK.jpg

But alas, it doesnt hold much longer and ALK is blinded out....

Good onya mate, cashing while asleep!
Pure GOLD!
What a funny tournament!
:o --> :shock: --> :lol: --> 8-) --> :D

i like pokerstars' way of doing it - if you are sitting out and all in blind, then you lose straight away, there is no showdown

it means the dead stacks stay around for the absolute minimum amount of time. people stupid enough to walk them is another matter, but at least they dont win 5 showdowns in a row like what happens on tilt and 888 for that matter

You may want to add that to the list in your sig?

Agree completely though... It is It is crazy to deal in and allow to continue postflop, a player sitting out. Even (imo) if the SB just calls, as it would NEVER be done in a live tournament...
Although perhaps its OK if SB is allin to call, if BB player has only been sitting out for a hand or two. But it should be easy to implement a test for player no longer actually there, especially if not from very first hand:

Code: Select all

if ( playerSittingOut )
   handsSatOut++;
else
   handsSatOut = 0;

....

if ( playerIsAllin && handsSatOut > SIT_OUT_THRESHOLD )
   playerLost();

+ a few bits and pieces here and there...

Maybe even, if it is folded to SB and BB hasnt played a hand (like ALK or Krunchie) then SB takes the pot? That would stop idiotic SBs from walking them... Heck even the button must be a bit silly here. There are times I have been on the btn with BB sitting out and raised with ATC as SB less likely to defend than BB, although obviously you don't want to do this every time, but it wont get folded to the button every time that player is in the BB either...
Just like, email support@pokerstars :: reply in 8 minutes.... email support@fulltilt :: don't hold your breath....
Pure laziness....

Same with 888's random moving policy... there is an almost trivial fix to that I can think of. And as happened in these FTP tourneys and other I recently played on Stars, when I was moved, but not into exact same position, I missed a hand until the button had passed... never from the btn to the BB or UTG! or skipping a blind either...

Its annoying when people think they rule when they don't.

Reading the title again, I can see how it might be taken as me havin a dig... I wasnt.. I thought it was funny and a tongue in cheek comment about ALK, and I'd been up allnight playin poker...
Same for my 'in your dreams' comment, cos u crashed out didnt you?

Edit: Actually I was havin a dig... at the other players in the tourney that could let someone go so deep in a field of over 17,000 sitting out the whole time! Same with Krunchie :lol:
Most was aimed at the simple fact that they obviously not even realise a player at the table was sittin out! I mean CMON!!??
Or if they did they were so stupid not to take advantage, well player on his right anyway... Seriously, its one thing to maybe forget and give him a walk (once), but to actually just flat call pre and then check all the way to the river??
That is poker stupidity on a whole new level to me...
