For holdem, though, I can think of times where all 44 remaining cards will give you either the win or a split.

give me one of these scenarios

Hero: [ad 2d]
Villain: [as 3s]

Board:[ac 8d 8h 2h]

Technically, you're behind on the turn ;)

fair enough, that is a guaranteed chop there except for a 2 river.

lets restrict it to non-chop hands then

How about this to get the brain juice flowing!

Imagine this... very similar had to AKs first example. You are on the turn 3 handed.

Player A) [qh] [10h]
Player B) [8c] [6c]
Hero Holds [2d] 2s]

Flop [Jh] [9h] [7c] turn [9c]

Now both opponents have 25 outs to beat our hero respectively (but not each other) but the combined outs of both players to beat our hero (say in a WSOP FT where our hero is all in and it is a check down situation) is...

Any Heart = 9 (flush player A)
Any Club = 9 (flush player B)
Any 7 = 2 (Counterfits)
Any J = 2 (conterfits)
Any 10 = 2 (Player B makes a straight)
Any 5 = 2 (Player B makes a straight)
Any K = 2 (Player A makes a straight)
Any 8 = 2 (Player A makes a straight)
Any Q = 2 (Player A makes a pair)
Any 6 = 2 (player B makes a pair)

total: 34 outs

Now i think ive added that up correctly counting out the clubs and hearts that can be used in other combinations....

Now this is a one in a billion situation but i thought i would point it out because it is funny that only counting the cards mentioned 34 outs plus the 10 live cards 44 there is at best 8 cards left in the deck that the hero can hit to survive... That's if it was a three handed game

If the above scenario took place in an eight handed game it gets even funnier. Starting the hand with a 52 card deck and dealing 8 players removes 16 cards, then you minus the 4 cards used in the flop and turn and used 20 cards, then you add in the 2 addtional burn cards and you have used 22 of 52 cards leave 30 in the hands of the dealer... now as always when you caclulate odds you ALWAYS assume the 100% of your outs remain in the deck,

So in the above scenario... you have more out than the dealer has cards.

Well, no more drugs for Nathy Nath. I have a head ache! :)

no, the other player's folded cards are also counted as part of the stub.

those 16 outs and 4 burn cards have to be counted as well.

Shut up benny the cunt :) It's still funny! but yes you are right.....

Also to revise one mistake. Only 8 outs in each flush draw. Each remaining 2 will fill up our Heroes hand 2's full of 7's.

32 outs for players A and B
8 Safe cards for the Hero which are...

Any non-club or non-heart A, 3, 4, 5 and the remaining 2s [2c] + [2h].
So 10 outs.
