If those detractors can't immediately offer a reasonable suggestion I can assure you it'll be a very short discussion.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Well, of course Pete, the players have to live with the rules that NPL provide. Doesn't mean we have to like them.

No !!! Chip Race makes it fair for everyone... :D You see it as losing but if your the one that gets lucky in the Chip Race then your gaining chips ;)

Yes, I would. Because for the rest of the night, that's how it goes. You're always chipped up (not saying we should have chip races all night, I'm totally against that idea - it doesn't work at any level except 5000/10,000). Chip races make it fair for anyone that doesn't lose chips. So overall you've got a fair system.

So you don't see a problem with one player's stack increasing by 35 percent at the final table through a chip up, when yours remains the same?

ok perhaps I could have explained that better...

nothing wrong with not liking something, but if all a person has to say is 'i dont like it' and cant even be bothered to suggest something that they consider to be an improvement, then I'm not tolerating it.

That's what leads to negative discussion and after the last few days I think it's fair to say we don't need any more of that.

The simple fact, that in any tournament all chips have to be accounted for.

WSOP of 2006 there was a chip descrepancy of over 2 million. Which means that there is an extra 200 players chips in the tournament. Harrah's still hasn't issued a response to this.

In NPL games, if we were to do a chip race at the first and second breaks. It would add an extra 20 to 30 minutes to the game time. Plus not to mention the arguments that would ensue about players arguing over who should get the first card.

Chip races are designed for account of these chips. I.E if players A B C D all have 125 chips. 1 black and 1 green. Then there is 1 extra black in lowest denomination chips. This is from the 4 greens. If there were 5 greens then there are now 2 black chips in play. Descrepancy of t$75. Small as it would be accounted for later in other chip ups. Or other tables would have t$75 So it all evens out.

During the race, you recieve a card for the number of chips you have of the lowest denomination. So a person who has 1 chip gets 1 card and 1 shot at getting the 100. Someone who has 3 chips obviously gets 3 shots at getting rounded up.

So in our case. Player A gets a 10, player B gets a 5 Player C gets a 8 and Player D gets a j. Player D gets the extra 100. If we had someone with two chips, then the next lowest number gets the other 100. So if player C got the extra card a 4. Then Player A gets the next 100 with his 10.

So think of the size of the venues you play out, the number of tables at the break, and the number of people a TD would have to explain the chip up to over the course of a month. and you will see why it is easier to avoid it, until we get to the 5k rounds. Where there is a lot more variation in being chipped up.

I could understand the reasoning behind it from the start, but it will just take a little getting used to.

Is this rule now in force across all venues and when was it brought in?

Since the beginning of this season, and yes it is a state wide procedure.

Believe the rule came into effect inline with the new rule book.

The best we can hope for is that when you guys go to any casino, you will have knowledge of these rules, and won't be too shocked if something unexpected happens.

Such as, i got my hand mucked when i was a foot away from the table because i was talking on the phone. Sat down, dealer mucked in front of me. Was a bit harsh, but because i was not at the table when the hand was dealt. Its getting mucked.

I don't think it is an issue in our venues because they are small enough that if we make it to the 5-10,000 level then we are already heads-up or 3 handed.
