Re: Grand Final Freeroll Discussion thread
Ok in terms of the prize pool distribution:
I am having troubles with communications with 888 managers, being the WSOP and all, it's basically party time in Vegas for them.
I have spoken to one of the IT managers and he tells me that the way we have to treat it (because of the reconciliation for this event between both companies) is to basically guarantee a $500 prize and all rebuys contribute to filling the guarantee.
So for the time being rebuys cannot be redistributed to players. We are working on this so we might need to do another four week cycle where we return the rebuys to players but at this time we cannot do it.
In terms of awarding points for GF:
Granted it skews the competition and LDB's but we never knew what the response was going to be for free rolls and the impact it would have on in venue numbers.
I am looking at grading the points system so we weight all tournaments fairly if we do this it means we can include more online games into the fixture. So even though people didn't like Double Points it may be something considered, the double points were not welcomed because it created an unfair competition in the short term and no announcement was made before the commencement of the season.
So if we look at this:
Online Freerolls: capped at 200
Online Cash games: no capped but has an average of 30 players
In venue Cash Games: Average of 35 players but we expect this to grow once we find a structure that suits players
In venue freerolls: Average of 45 players.
So if we use multipliers for these events:
Online Freeroll = 1x multiplier
Online Cash Games = 3x Mutliplier
In Venue Cash Games = 3 x Multiplier
In Venue Freeroll = 2 X multiplier
This should balance out the weighting of points. We then can look at awarding points for big events but points are capped at points for 300 players irrespective of players attending.
Thoughts on this system?

Seems fine now, but what do you do when numbers change?

Re: Grand Final Freeroll Discussion thread
It's not the worst idea on the points system
I am not against weighting it, and at the moment it does seem very fair, but as AK pointed out - what happens when the average numbers change? That will obviously shift the balance and would mean the current weighting isn't necessarily future proof and we end up having this discussion again (but probably in less depth).
This is straight off the top of my head, but how about if we impose a limit for points on the field sizes with respect to each event type (same as what you suggested for the big events but obviously a different number) and THEN do the weighting. I'm making the assumption that there would probably be different limits for each event type. This method might allow you to not have to adjust it any time soon.
