Re: Is this a bad beat?
submitted for ref a chart I have =
Pots won with Holdem Hands ranked by Percentage.
hands - 5,5
opponent - %
1 - 60.3 %
2 - 40.1%
3 - 28.8%
4 - 22.4 %
5 - 18.4%
6 - 16.2%
7 - 14.5%
8 - 13.2%
9 - 12.3%
i read with interest this thread and note a modern day on line Guru uses BB as ref for 'plays' and yourself using M .
I from the old school of days when Poker was Poker and not Bingo. and the belief and Creed was a Chip and a Chair [ with a prayer to the poker Gods. ] was all u needed see and understand your theories in Stack size /postion etc etc.
Today Poker seems to be the multi game/ Computer environ with its opportunittity to play many games frequently and 'multi ' tabling for quick satisfaction /expierence and game development. vs the old school one night or day one table/ friends style of poker.
Interestingly enough many crave for the "deep stack" long blinds levels style of Game where they can test their Skills and Endurance against fellow "live" oppenents.. , after practising and enjoying the MTT turbo [ bingo style of game].
for me "the old school."
Oh and I would FOLD
UTG in most cases but for 'fun' would c a flop with A MIN BET.
ALL IN if I was going home soon.. was multi tabling or was being distracted by the 'footy' , GF or even the X Box....
nb ' pocket AA winning preflop % =
1 player 85.3 %
2 --73.4
3 -- 63.9%
4 --55.9%
5 --49.2%
6 --43.6%
7 --38.8%
8 --34.7%
9 -- 31.1%
can c now why some MTT 'Bingo style players love AA and go All in even preflop with AA cuz they are getting 34.7% odds to win
sure beat getting 4.7% interest from a Bank current rates LOL.

Re: Is this a bad beat?
AJG: The majority of your oppnents are not going to be thinking in terms of "his M is x, oh look he has 20% of his stack in preflop, he's not folding to a shove." Hardly anyone thinks in terms of M - for online low stakes MTTs, go with BB.
In a $3 MTT it will be "I have AK/KQ/77/etc to a minraise, lets get it all in preflop."
We are discussing the way you played the hand preflop because quite frankly, it is wrong. Everyone plays a hand wrong from time to time, and discussing hands here with other players is a GREAT way to become a more knowledgeable player. So don't take any offense to posters offering you help - because that is what we are doing.

thats not to say we are gods at poker either - just offering our opinions, and you can choose to take them on board or tell us we are wrong etc. that way we improve our games as well by tapping into your poker knowledge.
also, what aaron said. most people dont even know what M is, let alone applying it in a micro stakes game.

More importantly than M, I don't think many players understand what effective stacks mean.

Lots of people don't understand what "Post-flop fold" means.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become
