In regard to Garths Golf Situation. I might use this example.
Multiple first day of a large poker tournament.
If you make it to day Two should you be on equal footing with other players with larger stacks? No.
Hence the teams event was based around of Teams being consistent across the day. Not being the best in both rounds. But being the best overall.
That is how it was played out. TD Terminators had a blinder in the first round but fizzed out in the second. Staff team 1 was consistent across both rounds. Kingsford Dream Team had a good first round but average second. But the points from the first round manage to get them across the line.
Considering this is the first teams event being run for SA, and for the NPL Staff in both Vic and SA. There was a lot of things that we hadn't considered.
We can only work towards another event, in which we have everything covered. But as Garth has pointed out in a couple of other posts. If all you are going to do is criticise the event and how some things may have affected your team from getting into the second round.
My advice is, stop trying for the angle shoot.
If you wanted to make it to the second or third round. You should have been able to play well enough where it is without doubt that you should be going through, Not relying on certain team members results to make your score. Hence the Consistency theme again.
Cheers,
Brett.

Hi there Brett. Never had the opportunity to say hello to you but I'm sure we will cross paths one day in the near future.
I for one had a great day and although a little disappointed that we never made enough points in the first leg to go into the second level.
However, I was so proud of my fellow poker players and team mates for supporting each other regardless of where the individul placed on his table.
I was fortunate to play on table 2 in the second round and it was a blast. Sou (the mouth) and I (the other mouth), LOL managed to dismantle the table to go heads up.
She was hitting everything and cleaned up the whole table and rivered almost every hand. Fortunately I was the dealer on three of them.
Heads up I went allin with
, Sou had
on her deal and yes she rivered me with a flush. But we had fun and we both enjoyed the results.Unfortunately, I feel a little disappointed that you and Garth feel the only people who are putting suggestions forward are being negative.
M8, there are always going to be whingers and whiners in most sporting events. Just wait till the footy season starts if you know what I mean.
People who know me, know I call a spade a spade. I don't suck up or back down on any issue. Throughout my sales and management career I learnt to ask questions, create a pool group to offer suggestions to gain ideas for improvement.
Some we used, some we didn't. But I did listen and thanked them for their individual support and valued input.
I think it's time you guys realised that you put a great venue together in a short time without any previous guidelines in place.
Stand up and accept the accolades M8. For a first time event that you guys put together it was excellent.
Please don't confuse a suggetion as being a negative! I for one want to see this venue continue.
Remember, It takes 8 muscles to smile
and 40 to frown

Re: Barossa/Gawler show Strength over the City Slickers
Thank you all for the positive feedback we have received, over the last few days we have received many thanks and some very helpful, practical constructive advice.
I am sorry for my earlier statements but there is only so much negativity I can put up with.
I appreciate all the players support in this matter.
We will be looking to make the teams event a seasonal affair, and maybe introduce a staff bounty game maybe some PLO and a few other things are on the back burner.
Thank you and I do appreciate your input and comments.

Re: Barossa/Gawler show Strength over the City Slickers
By all accounts i am happy that the day went as smoothly as i was expecting.
If all 62 teams had shown up, i would have been drunker than most of you combined. Too much stress to deal with. 50 perfect number
.
Apart from the accolades i am a modest person. I am just glad that it went to what i wanted it to be.
When you said you were proud that your team mates were supporting each other. That is brilliant. Points, prizes, everything else means didly to me when you say that.
That is the true ideal of a team event, the most consistent, a team that supports, True Unity.
If it gives rise to what happened in NSW with a few teams being formed. The Roadshow - A dedicated group of Travellers that travel to as many games as possible. The Pokermachinez - A group that believe in self improvement and learning of the poker arts. I would truly be happy.
My tips would be Carlsberg - For love of probably the worlds best beer. The Family - The South Australian poker Mafia, Team Little - The biggest and best smallest team in the world (Little in Name only). A few others. If they go on and stay as a team, and go through NPL venues, always having fun, enjoying the game, whilst also being respectful of other players, and always willing to talk to anyone about the game if they ask a question.
It would do more for poker than any marketing. It basically is a leadership group, that represents poker and how it should be played. Also gives players a challenge to be able to knock off one of these celebrities.
I don't know, i dream too big.
