[quote="Garth Kay"]I am done debating. I am sorry everybody but I have received numerous emails, pm's and messages about the teams event. The minority were complimentary, the majority were from people that complained about the points system after the fact. Not one bit of constructive criticism was offered in these messages, just basically "it sucked, our team would have made it through if it was the other way".

Hey Garth,
Sorry to hear about all the negativity towards you & your staff.

Our team had a great day & had no issues with the points system. You make the rules & we have to live with them.

Please notch this post up as another positive comment on your tally board.

Cheers.

I resent that ... the photo is awesome :D

10th( to a suckout ) and 2nd ( to yet another suckout ) since then ... it's redemption for me :-)

Why would you say that every team needs to start with a clean slate?
I can't see the logic behind it?
Anyone else feel this way?

Before I reply to your question, let me first say that I thought the teams event was a great idea.

A VERY POSITIVE YES FROM ME AND MY TEAM MATES

I originally thought that parking was going to be a disaster.
It wasn't as most of us car pooled.

I thought the area was going to be way, way, too crowded, hot and uncomfortable.
It wasn't too bad as they had the doors open and there was plenty of places to go if you weren't playing.

I thought it was going to be a long, long, hot and sticky drawn out day. It was a little but it wasn't for us coz we got knocked out in the first level, LOL.

The food and drink prices weren't over the top and the Palais Staff and Jim Beam Girls were great.

As usual and as expected, the NPL boys did their usual best in running the venue.

The guys in my team including myself created a mutual bond as a team and not just individuals. We were disappointed to find we weren't in the next shootout. Apparently only missing out by a few points.

However, after hearing the top teams were in the 90's we were somewhat relieved. There was no way in Hell that we were going to be able to make up a 30 point deficet plus get some top 3 finishes and hope the top teams failed dismally.

So, in our case, if we had qualified we would have prefered a clean slate for the second level to have an even shot at competing against the top ten.

I'd like to compare it to the AFL where we all play against each other during the season and accumalate points to see who the top 8 teams are.

Then in our case we clean the slate again. The teams play off again as before using preferablly not using the "JOKER" and the losers (lowest team points) drop out at each level until we hit the final 2 teams to see who plays the final table.

Garth, I'm buggered if I know which is right or wrong!!!

But I know it was going to be so damned hard for us to have caught up to those other guys under the current system.

Now ...... If you tell me the lowest team after the first break won and went all the way through to the final table "I'LL COME AND MOW YOUR LAWNS" LOL.

In closing I thoroughly enjoyed the day. It would have been great if we had just one flight instead of two to make it easier for you and your team and the contestants.

they wont have lost it, they'll have used it to get into round 2. job done. now it's round 2.

doesn't really matter tho

HERE, HERE, I AGREE WITH YOU AGAIN PETE, DAM WE'RE GOOD.

BUT IF I COMPARE IT TO WHEN I USED TO RACE SPRINT CARS. OUR POINTS FOR THE HEATS ETC, GOT US INTO EITHER THE "A" OR "B" MAIN. BUT OUR STARTING POSITION WAS ALSO GOVERNED BY OUR TIME TRIAL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE NIGHT. SO THERE'S A LITTLE RELEVENCE I SUPPOSE!!!!

Golf.
I shoot a 69 in the first round (LOL I wish)
I get to carry my 69 shots into the second round, I do not start with a clean slate and get cut if I shoot a 78, thank god for my first round which allowed me to stay below the cut.

Golf is a good example Garth, but you did say not to compare it with other sports LOL only joking m8 a great example.

Not a team event but individual.

Whats that Golf Tourney
USA V Internationals
Wood & Co win round 1 with 4/1
A & B win round 1 with 2/1
Round 2 they play A & B and start 0/0
Not 4/2 headstart

I'm with you now Dave good point on the golf re; team events.

PS I was in Daves team and we thoroughly enjoyed the day as a whole just a little disappointed we missed out.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE ABOVE COMMENTS ARE MADE IN THE INTEREST OF THE GAME AND ARE PURELY SUGGESTIONS.

THEY ARE IN NO WAY MEANT TO BE DEROGATIVE AND THAT TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE "NO ANIMALS WERE USED IN THESE SUGGESTIONS".

BigPete33 wrote:I thought it was total points per round, the structure says points are tallied up at the end of the round, x number of teams go through, and repeat.

From the format post:

As players are eliminated they are to put on the back of their ticket place finished and points allocated and have a TD or staff member initial the back of the card, please ensure that these details are written over the gold star of your joker otherwise bonus points are forfeited.

Points will then be tallied and the top 10 player teams and the top 2 staff teams will progress to round 2.

Round 2 will commence at approximately 4pm. Again envelopes will be redristubuted and the team captain is to distribute table numbers to all players. Team Jokers can be changed at this stage but the format remains the same. The blinds will remain the same as above and the point scoring will remain the same. Round 2 is expected to finish around 6pm.

Points again will be tallied with the top two player teams and the best performing staff team progressing to round 3.

There's not actually any mention of points accumulating and it could actually be interpreted as implied either way if you think about it long enough. I took it as implied that they don't accumulate.

I'll give you an example of where they don't accumulate per round.

UEFA Champions League....
top 2 from the group stage (which is round robin but total points decides it) progress and then it's a draw to see who you play in the next round and it's game by game knockout.

there used to be 2 group stages but it went on for too long.

Again, I wasn't actually bothered by it but you presented a weak argument :)

OH PETE!!!!! You must be my identically minded twin. I was going to post the same section as I thought it meant the points only counted for each level.
