But what happens if the reverse occurs but the team td8 still accumulates the same points?
I'm not arguing I am just debating. I would also like to add this is the first time an event of this sort has been run by NPL and it was my first as well.
I am just wondering why the hang up on points carry over. Did your team make it through to round 2 Dave? If so what points did your team accumulate in round 2.
Does having this points system change the gameplay strategy at all? Is it biased towards any type of particular player or not? Is there any chance at de frauding the system?

I thought it was total points per round, the structure says points are tallied up at the end of the round, x number of teams go through, and repeat.

From the format post:

As players are eliminated they are to put on the back of their ticket place finished and points allocated and have a TD or staff member initial the back of the card, please ensure that these details are written over the gold star of your joker otherwise bonus points are forfeited.

Points will then be tallied and the top 10 player teams and the top 2 staff teams will progress to round 2.

Round 2 will commence at approximately 4pm. Again envelopes will be redristubuted and the team captain is to distribute table numbers to all players. Team Jokers can be changed at this stage but the format remains the same. The blinds will remain the same as above and the point scoring will remain the same. Round 2 is expected to finish around 6pm.

Points again will be tallied with the top two player teams and the best performing staff team progressing to round 3.

There's not actually any mention of points accumulating and it could actually be interpreted as implied either way if you think about it long enough. I took it as implied that they don't accumulate.

I'll give you an example of where they don't accumulate per round.

UEFA Champions League....
top 2 from the group stage (which is round robin but total points decides it) progress and then it's a draw to see who you play in the next round and it's game by game knockout.

there used to be 2 group stages but it went on for too long.

Again, I wasn't actually bothered by it but you presented a weak argument :)
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

I am done debating. I am sorry everybody but I have received numerous emails, pm's and messages about the teams event. The minority were complimentary, the majority were from people that complained about the points system after the fact. Not one bit of constructive criticism was offered in these messages, just basically "it sucked, our team would have made it through if it was the other way".
This was the first time we ran an event of this sort, it was meant to be fun and enjoyable and instead I get 8 messages of thanks from our 400 players who were there and almost 16 messages complaining about it.
It's quite simple if I, or my staff, are going to repeatedly cop flak after donating our free time and putting in some effort to bring an event of this sort then we might as well just not run them. Stick to our State Finals and Regionals.
Or another proposal was the next big novelty event will be invitation only, with senior td's to be the only one to be issuing them.
This won't happen but there might eventually be a list of those who will not be allowed to play in said events.
I am sorry for this post, but I had a great time on Sunday and enjoyed myself immensely but I have had so much negativity thrown at me today I cannot handle it anymore and I just see the majority of it as sour grapes and sore loser syndrome.
Sorry again.

I don't think anyone should be complaining about anything, the day was awesome.

You just made a crap argument about accumulation of points :P

Day was GREAT
Well planned and awesome.

The points could have been done either way and either way is right, because it's what you wanted to do!

Hang around long enough and you'll get very used to the extremely different tangents that these threads go off on :)
Will dance for your chips!
