Trickier Rule Clarifications

Postby bennymacca » Wed Jun 17, 2009 2:07 pm

there are heaps of people that still struggle with some of the trickier, but i was pretty happy explaining this one

it was one of those times where there were some limpers, then a dude shoved for less than 2BB, and a limper tried to raise again

most of the table was a bit confused when i told the limper she couldn't raise again.

i told them that if the person that is all in has not made a legal raise, then betting is not reopened to people that have already acted in the hand.

it was cool because a guy told me thats the best explanation of that rule that he has heard and thanks heaps for the explanation

so yeah, i was happy with this one.

but that brings me to my point

does anyone know of an article that explains all of these trickier rules?

I actually thought it was 50% of a raise.

If you go all in for 1400 when the blinds are 500/1000, then the action hadn't been reopened. If you go all in for 1900 when the blinds are 500/1000 then it had.

But maybe I'm thinking of something else.

If you haven't acted, you're free to do what you want.

I know.

But I'm pretty sure you can re-raise if you've limped, if the all in was more than 50% of a raise.

But I'm probably wrong.

To a degree... If you wanted to raise after the 1400, you have to make it 2400, don't you? Being a full BB over the current bet?
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

This is true, I think.

actually, im think you might be right

what constitutes a legal raise? is it 50% or a full bb?

its got nothing to do with BB, its got to do with how much someone has raised. a min raise preflop is a BB, so this is where it comes in

So benny the cunt, depending what the actual amount is that the guy went all in for, you might have given out bad advice ;)

You should forfeit your winnings.

The 50% rule applies to limit poker.
