Garth, i wanna ask what your expectations on the finishing times for the late tourneys were?
the challenge event finishes at about 1:30, and the foundation game at about 2am
are these finishing times about what you expected?
i am not saying it is good or bad, just interesting. there is a delicate balance between having a good structure, and making it finish too late so noone plays it.
these times would be even worse for our victorian friends.
another question which i dont know the answer to.
if antes were introduced into the structures of the late games, and nothing else changed, to what extent would that affect the length of the tournaments?

Why does it matter what was expected? It is what it is.

(I'm not saying you do, although I kinda think you do) If you have a problem with the finishing time of the events, don't play them. A 10.30pm start works so people can have a game after they get back from the pub. 10pm is too early, and 11pm is too late. Its pretty much the perfect start time.

It would definitely help get rid of the dead stacks a lot quicker. I'd be all for antes in the late game (and a few of the deeper weekend events, the deepstack especially).

Re: Finishing Times for Late Games
aaron, i am not talking about start times, i am talking about finishing times
all i am asking is, is 2am what they thought the finishing times would be?
dont read too much into my question aaron, i am not complaining. i like the 1030 games, they are a perfect time for me to play, whether i go to the pub or not. i love the structure as well, it is pretty much a perfect balance and a perfect length tourney.
my question is probably related to the challenge game starting at 11pm. if that grows to get 50-100 runners, then the game wouldn't finish before 3am, which would turn some people off
any later than 2am is too late in my opinion, and will lead to people not signing up. antes might be the solution for the 11pm game.

Re: Finishing Times for Late Games
This will be helped by minimising the dead stacks, cos they really slow down the play. Takes longer to knock them out, which adds a bit of time.
But see what you are saying with the Challenge game.

I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

I don't see it as being too different to having a late game in the pub.
If it's likely to be finishing too late for you, you won't play it.
I'm fairly sure they would have had an idea of that when adding that timeslot.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

you are right pete, but an online game at 11pm is much more accessible to those of us that have to work the next day than a game at a pub, which is pretty much not an option for a lot of us

I completely agree with that.
It's still a late game though

Re: Finishing Times for Late Games
benny the cunt,
Standard tournaent length based on our blind structures is 3 to 3 1/2 hours. So whatever the start time is set at we know what the finishing time will be. Not a lot of difference between the F & C games either.
7.30 start 10.30-11 finish
10.30 start 1.30-2 finish.
