Melbourne Champs Main Event

Postby Todd Rivers » Sat May 30, 2009 2:03 am

Well i made it through day 1.

Start stack was 20k

Had Monica Nguyen on my table!

About 26k at first break

Had 55k at 2nd break

Took out Monica! Got to just under 120k.

Hadnt lost a hand yet. (played <10% of hands)

Then this happenned.......

Small blind with K8 off, ante/blinds 50/400/800
Folds to me.
Just called. (so far 2day i had flat-called with AA, KK, QQx3, and AK x3)

BB checks.

Flop K,8,9

I massive overbet with 6k to look like a bluff.

Villan calls

Turn 3

I bet 12k

Villan tanks, then shoves for about 25k.

I insta call.

He rolls 9-2

River 9

Busted back to about 70k.

didnt play another hand after being moved off table.

Finished with 59k

Average stack 43k so im happy.

Tommorrow is a repecharge for busted out players from day 1 and 2 (effectively an $1100 re-buy)

My brothers and i are playing in the Poker-pro Deepstack tommorrow and the main event re-starts Sunday.

I'll keep you all updated.

You can purchase tickets online, but I think they may have closed this 24 hrs prior to tourney start.

Also as much as it is deepstack, it is a pretty crappy structure. With some huge leaps in blinds.
Keep the agressiveness up in this tourney.

Nice work Toddy. That shove on 92o is so spewy. What does he expect you to fold for another 13k on the turn?

Anyway, keep it up. Good luck in the Pokerpro event tomorrow and keep us updated.

Poker Pro Event - Got to 64k early, then had Q,J off and the board flops 9. K. 10 rainbow.

I check, guy bets 3k, raised by another guy to 10k (he has 9,9) i call.

Turn 2 (gold for me)

I check, original bettor checks, trips dude bets 15k and i shove!

I jump up, clapped my hands excitedly like a maniac (which i never do) and was glad to know i've got - em.

Dude calls and river is K. Yuk!
