fair point garth - just because pete and others (myself included) like to know the intricate ins and outs, there are probably many more people that just dont care

Obviously I'm confused a little as I've been away and am trying to soak in not only this intro to 888 but also all the other posts written whilst I was away.

Having said that I haven't actually downloaded or registered with the 888 site but I'd like too give it a go. So, if it were possible I'd like to hook up with someone or a group of you guys (your place or mine) who are already playing online so you can explain it to me in person.

I wasn't actually referring to intricate details :)

Hopefully there's not many players complaining they didn't know something once they find out there's leaderboards etc

I see your point re: emails and I have no problems believing that there's such a small % that were read. This is not surprising at all.

Main website and forum are by far better sources of information.

If you've deliberately chosen to not release all of the simple information prior to launch, that's your decision and at least it's clear that it was a deliberate choice as opposed to a failing. You're in charge, not me! :)

I think it's pretty sub-standard though and this was my constructive feedback on why I think so.

Having said that, I think the competition itself is great (now that I know more about it) and obviously a lot of hard work has gone into getting it happening.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

The short and the tall of it Pete is this - the average human being only retains 30% of any new information processed in a 24 hour period.

We did not want the confusion of the mechanics of the competition or the "HUGENESS" of it or the intricacies over shadow the concept or the awe of a new league.

Not everyone is as Awesome as you are and able to comprehend everything at the same time. You've played in our tournaments, you've have interacted with the majority of our general market. You have to understand this, and as to the forum - that's why there is a FAQ thread. To answer the questions you have now, that we have not yet answered in our general communications.

Look at Bob's post - he's slightly lost already. WELCOME TO 888PL.

The easiest way (and in lieu of actually wanting to see you in person) is that the Foundation games (previously freeroll, just think F for both) are the online version of going to the pub. It's free. Just no stamp cards. The same qualification & points apply.

The Challenge (previously Cash Buy-in, think C for both) is the online version, where you pay. Again, same rules apply for points.

There are 5 or 6 games available online, each one is a seperate event. The Monday 11.30 game is like the Para Hills venue, and the Monday 7.30 game is like the Parafield Gardens. Points don't transfer between both (except for the Dream Team, which is like the State Top 50 Leaderboard).

That's my take on it.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

hehe Garth, I was actually coming from the point of view that most ppl are completely thick and they'll need it spelled out for them what is what :) Yes it's huge, yes there's stacks of info to be had for those wanting to know everything about it - no question about it.

The FAQ went up after I suggested it! :)

Info will be released in dribs and drabs.

Latest story will go up tonight.

Ok.
Next question and probably not the best thread for it.

I will be adding 2 more Home games to the timeslots of 2pm - 6pm
midnight - 9am, and two additional games in the 9pm - 11pm slot.

These cannot be all freerolls but you now have the opportunity to design
any format of tournament you want for these.

The guy or girl who comes up with the most decent schedule over the next 12 hours wins naming rights to these tournaments.

Just a quick one about the online freerolls.

To me, the early games (7.30, 1k start stack, 5 min levels) and finish within a couple of hours should swap structure with the late games (10.30, more relaxed strructure). This would make the earlier ones run longer, and the later ones run shorter. I would enjoy both better that way i think.

In regards to the online structure for the 888PL games.

- what goals/limits/constratints did you have when formulating these games, or was it up to 888 to come up with them. i.e. was it a deiberate decision to make these super turbo for a particular reason. Its my view, that these games were an ideal opportunity to implement a much more relaxed structure. it wound be interesting to know the process behind how these were developed.
- are these structures fluid? i.e. are you asking fro feedback from players about the structure of this comp for the future.

EDIT: i guess my concerns here could be solved by the above post. great initiative garth, i should have waited 2 more minutes before posting.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

What macca said.

I can see from earlier posts that the 5 min blind level might suit lunchtime players etc but in the evening I can't see the reasoning.
