I cant download the 888pl client

ya i seem to have to reinstall from a download almost every time i open if some one can find a way to open 888.com from their harddrive consitantly let me know/

pokerstars however seems to have a direct constant link to site and opens directly from their site even on/after a cold and warm reboot..

tracking cookies are adware, which is why they get blocked

You can set exceptions though, obviously some cookies need to be enabled for things to work correctly.


It could be your browser blocking them but not likely if you have left cookie handling at it's default setting - which is bad because 3rd party cookies (nothing but ad sites!) will be accepted.

Directions for re installing 888 software:

I have perfected this:

Did you download the 888 software from any of the links supplied by 888PL or are you a pre existing customer/downloaded direct from 888.com?

Either way to get you online tonight we will need to create a new account for you. Before we do this can you please follow the below instructions:

• Uninstall Pacific Poker and any related 888 software completely.
• Do this by removing the program completely found in "add or remove programs" icon in the "control panel". You can access the control panel by clicking on the 'windows' or 'start' button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Once completed --> --> -->
• Hit the start menu and select run: type in REGEDIT.
• Under the SOFTWARE Folder for the Current User you will find two folders PACIFIC POKER and POKERINSTALLER - Can you delete both these folders and then re install the software from the following link:
http://www.pacificpoker.com/PokerInstaller?lang=en&sr=999850
• This should then download the new software directly to you laptop/PC.
• Create a new account for 888PL, once created please test to see if you can register for any of the 888PL online events.
• Transfer any funds you wish from your previous 888 account to your new 888PL account

This should fix the problem. Can you please let me know if this worked?

Also as a note to users that could play in Poker Ashes but cannot now play in 888PL events - you will need to follow the above directions. Your account was not downloaded via a tracked MAR serial but at that time we could add you to it. Now we cannot. We need all 888PL users to have downloaded and created an account from a tracked MAR serial.

Adware includes tracking cookies

But tracking cookies aren't all adware.


Adware is, as the name suggests, to do with advertising. Recording what you do and where you do it .. to use that information later for advertising.

888PL needs to track you in order to make sure you are an NPL player, etc. It's not for advertising, so it's not adware.

Virus scanners that also scan for adware can't tell the difference, so let you know nonetheless.

i meant that tracking cokies can be used for adware, so thats why the virus scanner will pick them up
