Thanks Garth. Now for my next question.
Monday May 4th I'm in Melbourne till Thursday 7th and arrive in Kiama on the 8th.

Kiama is around 20 mins from Wollongong and noticed on the NSW site there are NPL cash games there for $5 and $10 buyins and use a 1000 points for winning 800 second and so on.

And one of the venues offered percentages for the first 3 places and set $$$$ payouts for from memory to 8th place.

So, are we NPL SA going to adopt the same system?

No we wont be Bob. NSW still uses the very old points system. We will do things differently and I will release info on the forum next week.

No problems, gonna give all the casinos a nudge all the way to Surfers for 3 weeks LOL.

Got a $2k bank so far and still building it. Gonna have a couple of games in each one of the casinos and do some fishing.

Might even bring a tinny back with me if the price is right.

I think the TD's should nominate who they think would be good represenatives on the council. Then pick the council out of those nominations.

You need someone who is going to improve the product and someone who is level headed as well.

Also you should also pick people who are willing to put in the effort. Not just some half-arsed interest in it.

Now that would have been an excellent opportunity to have involved a "players council" to see what they would have liked to not only play but also add their thoughts and opinions too. Additional things that they would like to see added or changed to help make NPL even better with players involvement!!!

Simple things such as;
The dollar values for regular buyin and rebuy tourneys,
time limits for rebuys,
the prize pool percentage breakdown,
whether there will be a points values for placings and if so what will the benefits to the player be,
replace the irregular stamping systems,
Table allocations, etc, etc, etc.

Obviously, NPL have already decided on all and more of the above. So a "players Council" would only be rubber stamping decisions that have already been decided by the NPL management.

Other than a couple of surveys here on the forum and discussed by the same 10 to 20 guys and gals what other input did we have??

My thoughts.

I don't think a players council could work. Obviously there are going to be people put into positions that they believe can change the way things are. Already there have been three different concepts bought up in regards to stamp cards, cash buy in tournaments and man love comments.

As it stands, i think that the forum is the best way to deliver. As it is currently only online, why not have a few live forum debates around the place. 2 in Adelaide, 1 in B&G, 1 somewhere else. Rotate them from season to season. Run them in the 1st week.

TD's RM's and Players can all be welcome to share their ideas of what they like and what they want to see. It gives everyone an equal platform as well.

I think with this as well you can get a broader aspect of the entire community, from the irregular members to the loyalists. Then you can see what each section wants from the poker game. E.g. Irregular members might want a few more spot prizes throughout the night. While the loyalist might want more challenging games such as Berri Deepstack, limited qualification events, satellite events. Premium games to gauge how their skills are progressing.

I think nominating people for a players council could also be biased. There are people out there who might have a conflict of interest with other providers, then there might be others who could be worried about their decisions affecting friendships. Garth has already stated he has a few ideas as to who he would like to see on the council, it also means that the subset of players might be very narrow in the grand scheme of things.

My thoughts on it anyway.

I don't care what you think!!!!

Just kidding - all valid points. But my forethoughts on people for this council are based on previous experiences with these players and their ideas and thoughts, as well as their ability to communicate well. Some of these players don't post on this forum just players I have met whilst travelling around venues and discussing NPL with them.

A while ago, we discussed the option of having a survey of most/all players at each venue to gain lots of information about players feelings regarding different structures/prizes etc.

What happened to this idea? Would this be a practical and perhaps easier way of communicating to, and recieving information from the players?

This would eliminate any conflict of interest or issues around bias arising from a players rep. council.

A separate group of people, however, (perhaps a much smaller group of 5-8 players) could be selected to help TD's and management formulate the players, contractors and possibly a venues set of standards or codes of conducts.

I personally like Brett's idea of using this forum, and/or other 'live' forums (these could happen at an extended half an hour break at a particulatr venue) to discuss other various promotions, structures or ideas.
