lol, well im really happy with Hiddink taking the reign, finally we get to see Anelka and Drogba up forward, even if Anelka looked a bit lost on the left the pair will still take a bit of time to gel

i saw the header pete, perfect cross, looked like Real Madrid wasted a lot of chances though but liverpool will almost be guaranteed a place in the Quarter finals, i cant see Real Madrid scoring at Anfield

Man U v Inter will be a good game, hope they show that on SBS in two weeks

just put $5 for adelaide to win at 5.25 to 1

also $5 on adelaide to win 1-0 at 9.50 to won

awesome odds for an adelaide win, anything is possible

Drogba's days are numbered i think

Bloody happy for Benejoun, great goal from a player that never sees enough field time.

Great game from the germans 0-5.

Most italians and spanish will be shitting themselves right now

Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Name your price hitmen, i have an assignment for you.

MATTHEW BREEZE. Somehow considered to be one of the best referees in the hyundai a-league, but consistently and dare i say it intentionally ruins big games with ill judged decisions made with emotion and not by fact.

A stat from the first final against melbourne - Adelaide have not won a game this season in which matthew breeze has been refereeing. Thats right, not one. Why should we expect anything to change.

For those of you who didnt see it, Adelaide's Cristiano was given a straight red card in only the 10th minute of the grand final, for an incident that was a foul at best.

We are defending well, and it is nil all at half time, but how long the deadlock lasts is anyones guess.

Cristiano lept to challenge an aerial ball and used his arms to get some extra height. his leading elbow connected with roddy vargas' head and cut him.

HOWEVER, at NO stage did Cristiano's eyes deviate from the ball, his elbow WAS NOT swinging and his actions while inflicting damage cannot be considered neglegent or intentional.

What made me almost smash my plasma screen, was that Matthew Breeze had a yellow card out of his pocket, but after chatting to the assistamt referee WHO DID NOT EVEN RAISE HIS FLAG FOR THE INITIAL INCIDENT decided to give a straight red card.

A quote from robbie slater 'well im sorry, but thats a shocking decision that has effectively ruined the game.

Im devastated. One moment can rip the guts out of a supporter and rip the heart out of a teams hard fought season.

So name your price, send me a PM

Melbourne 1, Adelaide 0.

Im devastated, its like my dog has been run over by a crazed old lady on a gopher.

In what was a spiteful clash, Adelaide came out after half time and dominated the game. We had 70% of possession in the first 10 minutes of the second half and a couple of very good chances.

But a goalkeeping error by Eugene on the hour gave Tom Pondeljak the opening goal. What followed was a spiteful encounter where numerous pushing and shoving occured and Melbourne's Danny Allsop was sent off for headbutting Robbie Corthwaite.

So we had ten each and were still dominating gameplay. Scott Jameison had an awesome chance which was well saved, and a few minutes later Paul Agostino should have scored when a brilliant Cassio cross went through his legs.

We tried till the end and should have been able to do so for a few more minutes at least. Melbourne left back Evan Berger fell heavily on his back/neck in the 82nd minute and layed down for at least 4-5 minutes. Then in the 90th minutes Roddy Vargas' head wound re-opened and it took another minute or two for him to leave the field. Add this to the fracar that occured earlier when Allsop was sent off and it remains an absaloute mystery why there was ONLY 3 minutes of injury time. It really is beyond me, and again highlights Matthew Breeze's incompetence in this game.

You can always tell when the umpire has decided the outcome of the game when the commentators talk about it for a minute, then say something like 'well, im gonna say any more in case i get in trouble'.

But, we left it all on the pitch and i can't fault one player for their efforts tonight. Jonas Salley's man-marking job on Carlos Hernandez was sensational, and the swap of Daniel Mullen (to centre back to curb Archie Thompson) and Robbie Cornthwaite to right back was an excellent move by Viddie who coached really well tonight.

I guess big games are often decided by small moments, but tonight it was two. The first was a blatant and unforgivable error by Matthew Breeze which no doubt changed the momentum of the game, and the second was an error by the otherwise-outstanding Eugene Galekovic, who let a soft shot in from 20 metres.

But in the end we had some chances to succeed, and we didn't take them. There is always next year, and we can hold our heads high after this one.

Im so angry i could kill a f*cking penguin!

Excellent match report macca.

I completely and whole-heartedly agree.

Someone should shoot that phuckhead.

I now have no doubt he displays obvious bias and he should be stood down as a referee.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
