That's pretty crap Garth. What happened to region specific events? What was the point of advertising events like this, if the structure was going to be changed at the last minute? Now what if BG players miss out because a bunch of city players decide to take the trip to Clare? I liked the idea of each region having their own events. If a city player came down and made a FT in BG, fair enough, you qualified. But this is pretty unfair.

the more the merrier man - im pretty sure everyone who travels up there will get to play

alternatively, maybe we could register beforehand, so it is assured that we get a seat?

Maybe make a rule... region won FT chips take precedence over external won FT chips.

Then after all the locals are rego'd make up the numbers with the out of towners.

I don't have any FT chips, so I won't be going anyway.

The structure has never been changed, it has always been one FTT gains you access to any number of $1,000 FTT events, all held in regional areas.

It is also a tool to open up regional areas to Metro players and vice versa. Our regionally based events haven't been travelling well with a down turn in numbers and a lack of appreciation by mnay locals for this event.

The BG region in particular is one that has been heavily affected by encroaching competitors and a drop off in player numbers, we see the FTT events as a way of building traffic and awareness of the region, as many of the BG players like to remind us that your region is the best due to the players and staff in that region why don't we open it up and allow metro players to experience this.

If BG players missing out is a concern then I will make certain allowances for players who have played 8 games by the end of week 5 and who have accumulated 1 FTT, these players will be permitted to register early.

I will need to sort this with Matty and Darren but it should not be too much of a concern, as to BG players that have not met this criteria, get there early, but I do not see the cap being breached.

Interesting question really. Say I collect only 3 FTTs, can I play a regional and the metro, or does entering a tourney "extinguish" a FTT?

The way it will work is that I will receive spreadsheets listing players who have received 1 or more FT placings and another for those who have achieved 3 or more FTT appearances.

These will be sent to our RM's and they will use this spreadsheet as a means of registering players.

If you have acheived 3 FT's then you may play an FTT $1,000 regional as well as the Metro event.

If you are up for it you can try and make as many regional FTT events as you like in that weekend.

Does that clear it up? Confusion of this nature was to be expected and I have just learnt that the majority of management believed the alternative was the case as well.

Oh well another NPL fu.

Perfectly.

It isn't really for me I'm asking, but thought I'd get the question out there early to save confusion - I'm sure there will be lots of table talk about it over the next week & a half.

As always there will be talk and confusion. This one is a doozy.

I'm fully to blame.

I fear that the structure may be changed to accommodate the incoming city players (lack of chips, too many players, etc), but I hope that's not the case. I hope we still get our deepstack (even if 5k isn't exactly "deep").

Seems like another version of NPL informing their players of big changes at the last minute.

Best players, as a whole? I wouldn't say so - but we do have some talented players. Now TD's? Hell yeah. NPL just wouldn't be the same with Matty and Darren, and lately, Larry and Tom.

This seems like a fair correction (in dealing with the changes). I still don't like the fact that ANYONE can play our regional event - but at the very least, it should be BG players first. As it should be for all regional events.

Aaron you could be making a mountain out of a mole-hill here. How many out of town city players who have never played a game in the B&G will actually make the trip to clare?

Its not like there will be dozens, it will still have the feel of a distinctly B&G tournament.

I would rather have a regional final with 70 and some city players, than have a regional final with 40 locals.

(I might even make the trip to clare myself, but i think it clashes with the riverland game).
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.
