Stop the Presses -- Peter Rho Doubles and Takes the Chip Lead!

How is it that there is always one major hand that develops just as players are going on the dinner break? It happened again tonight. With most of the players dispersing to go grab a bite of something tasty (try the crispy pork from the food court on Friday and Saturday), Peter Rho raised to 35,000 chips from under the gun. Action passed to Zach Fellows, who made it 120,000. Everyone else folded and headed for the poker room exits.

Action was back to Rho. He tanked for roughly a minute, then put in a small re-raise to 280,000 chips total. Fellows tanked for much longer than Rho, almost a full two miinutes, before moving all in for 1.8 million chips. He had Rho covered and realized his mistake when Rho double-fist-pump-snap-called.

Fellows: [as] [kc]
Rho: [ac] [ah]

It wouldn't be poker without some kind of sweat. Rho got his sweat when the flop came down king-high, [3s] [qc] [kd] , to make a pair of kings for Fellows. But the turn and river safely blanked out to give Rho a massive double up to 2.25 million chips total, leaving Fellows with only 647,000.

Rho is the new chip leader, and now we're really off to get some dinner.

Is Garth doing updates for PokerNews? That reeks of his writing! Haha

P.S. Bacon - I wouldn't even classify myself as a player :)
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

story about him on adelaidenow today. pretty funny that he didn't have enough to buy a suit, although it prolly cost him some coin for a versace suit

Everyone seems to be talking about Chris Fullwood, which just makes my agrument for large tournement entry to be included as part of a prize package. Can anyone seriously remember who won the NPL season 4?

If you win state finals... you win $10000.00

There is nothing to stop you buying into a large tournament.

I agree here sunbury. I would rather 1/2 prize money, 1/2 buyin to large tourney as I would never use the prize money myself to buy into a tournament. Other half would go nuts. Not that I'd ever make it anyway, but eh. Everyone dreams of winning their way through to a big tournament by playing free poker.

(this convo is a bit off topic so maybe it could be moved, although it has been discussed already a few times)
