So, excuse my ignorance, why change to their 2nd cheapest if you are porting to Naked DSL?

Is that because you want to keep a home phone? Doesn't that negate the point of NDSL?
:?: :?:

To avoid any hassles to do with porting out, such as the possibility of them refusing.

I'm not one to tolerate potential stupid hurdles so I figured I'd just play it safe.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Wow, how do they get away with doing that shit? I've had budget for while too, using Adam for ADSL2+. Looks like I'll go naked if I need to change my broadband again

They changed the rules a few years ago, but grandfathered existing connections.

My suggestion was regarding him getting a FREE MODEM that he said he didn't want buy if you opened your eyes benny the cunt. Plus they don't have a contract!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry bob, but you are completely wrong.

Obviously times have changed at AAPT. Had I been more observant to where I may have been critisized for my post I should have checked it out before making such a rediculous suggestion to a fellow non geekable person:D

aapt are 5 bucks a month dearer on their 20 gig internet, which is 60 a month, compared with adam's 55 a month.

Well benny the cunt when I joined AAPT it was $48.95/12 with no additional fees and included a free ADSL modem and $29.95/12 for line rental and NO CONTRACT.

that price for aapt assumes you have a bundled home phone with them, which is 30 a month. Yep that's true but I don't have a contract and yes mine is ADSL.

But you need to understand that not everyone is a Geek m8. So, when he asked for a cheaper provider I offered mine as they had included a free modem without a contract. And all he'd need to do was have it for a month close acct and keep the modem.

the free modem is ONLY when you sign up for a 24 month contract. click this link bob

that is also a standard modem, not a modem for a viop phone bob. if you opened your eyes, bacon didnt say that he wanted a free modem, he said he wanted to know what was a good voip modem.

Well you must have a totally different program where it say he actually asked for a VOIP. No deffinately no mention of Voip anywhere on the following copy of Bacons Post M8. :o

However you my friend my have known what he was refering to, whereas I didn't as I only read what was written not what was intended!!!!!!!!!!

aapt dont have voip services, because they are also a phone carrier, so that wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Pardon my ignorance but VOIP means Jackshit to me and I assume 90% of the living, breathing public out there in a normal society.

so once again bob, sorry if i sounded rude, but you are wrong.

You might want to reread his post attached as I think you Bennymacca have been Bubbled again by the magnifucent Bermster ;)

bacon, i also must have been lucky, as i am on the telstra budget plan with someone adam's adsl

Bacon said;
i'm sick of paying $35 a month for a phone line i don't use, so am thinking of changing to naked, or similar.

Is he asking for a VOIP MODEM here??????????

Adam have theirs, but the techo suggested i get a different modem to the one they sell. And i forget which one.

Is this refering to a voip modem benny the cunt??????

Can i get some geek help from here? In normal speak please!

Sorry benny the cunt I missed the part where he needed a GEEK. I'm just a simple minded person similar to Bacon who I'm sure knows more than myself regarding computers and the internet. But, maybe a simple explaination re; naked, voip, etc, would have been much better than the sarcastic post you made towards me.

Paying 90 a month now for 20G if u count the phone line. Naked is 65 i think but have to buy a modem. Any suggestions?

I suppose this means there is a company called Naked and they have a plan for $65/12 plus the cost of a modem.

So this be where it says VOIP, or is there a typo somewhere that I missed?

Keep it going benny the cunt I love a good verbal challenge with you m8. 8-)

bob, Naked DSL is a new type of ADSL2+ where you dont need a home phone connection for the internet to work.

in place of a home phone, you get a voip phone instead, and all of your phone traffic runs over the internet rather than in the telephone bandwidth.

this is great for those of us that really only have a home phone because of the need for the internet. it is also much cheaper, as the phone call rates are cheaper, and there is no line rental either.

the reason some of us aren't on this is because some households cannot get adsl2+, only standard adsl. (if you are on a rim, paired gain or too far from the exchange)

so by definition, naked dsl == voip phone

i hope this clears it up bob. im sorry if i was rude to you, it has been a misunderstanding me thinks.

While this thread is going, can anyone give advice on changing from:

Adam ADSL2+ & Telstra Budget
to
Naked setup & VOIP phone/modem?

DO IT!!!!

i think the only downside is that your phone number will be different. other than that, i dont see why anyone wouldn't do it (unless you are on a rim like me and can't get adsl2 :( )

Much better benny the cunt thanks for that. By the way there's no need for any apology m8 it's all good here. I'm like a dog with a bone, the only way I'll let it go is when I either get a kick up the arse or I get to keep my bone.

Now I know something of what you are refering too I seen this on my dictionary as an explaination. I suppose he's already seen the service providers attached to the end of the explaination.

DSL
digital subscriber line: a technology that allows high-speed transmission of text, audio, and video, usually over standard telephone lines; a form of broadband transmission.

It's quite clear in their existing terms and conditions which are viewable from their website. If they don't enforce it, that's a different kettle of fish.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
