Ok
I can understand that completly and i understand where you are coming from and appreciate everything you say
I'm not picking on you or trying to put you in some sorta NAZI group thats not at all the case
I dont want everything to be poistive if that was the case then i think it would end in disaster as the flaws wouldnt be picked on ....
All im saying is that the bonuses are a good thing and should not be seen as negative (maybe DD can be but NPL have tried to rectify this as swiftly as possible even if it doesnt suit everyone)
The Extra are a good thing and YES adds extra to the comp ,as i said in my first post here number 6 in the state played 3 events a week max and did awesome so he gets a little bonus and i did read your post also rosemary on the dream weekend i cant wait (hopefully i can be a huge part of this weekend ) and watch and work 2 Fantastic Days of poker
Positive and Negative comments always help and its good to see both sides but just cause of the surprise announcment doenst mean its handled wrong
I actually remember Garth announcing it at the last State finals also but with furthur confirmation towards the end of the season EXACTLY howw it happened
Rosemary come to Dingley Saturday and play the extra events on you might qualify for the states (if you haven't already) and maybe you could see an awesome 2 days of poker
I would love to READ how great the weekend was and how it fed the Beast inside you for MORE AND MORE poker

Irrespective of what has been said by other players and NPL staff;
When have I given you a hard time, you post a query or complaint, I respond with either an apology or statement of fact, or the thought processes behind any initiative you have had problems with.
one time Garth you will find the positive out of what I post and stop giving me such a hard time over the information and opinions I pass on.

On another note, I do accept all feedback from all players, sometimes we won't see eye to eye but I do take everything on board and do adjust our practices to alleviate these problems.
Rosemary, where you see the teams event and the lack of forewarning, I see it as a positive and a way to congratulate and offer a bonus to our regional leaders. The reason I did not announce it until the end of the season is because I had not finalised what type of tournament we were going to run on the Saturday and also because I did not want players aware of what they playing for until the end of the season.
At times, and as I have said previously, we will throw Bonuses out to our playing community. They will be minor but they will be there and there will be very little in the way of forewarning players or announcements.
All of our finals in 2009 will run to a two day format with a few side tournaments thrown into the mix, the teams event will be a permanent fixture of this.
The changes for 2009 have been broadcast on the forum and website and have been up for quite a while now, all staff are aware of these changes and the majority of players I have spoken to are aware of them and looking forward to the new year.
I just needed to highlight one facet were we are improving competition communication, also the player email is a permanent fixture on my calendar and we will be releasing these e newsletters on a monthly to bi monthly basis.

This was exactly the point i was making rosemary, and that in this case in prticular, you have viewed somehting as negative when it should be viewed as a big positive.
Please dont think that im having a go at all of your posts and that i think you are just being negative, because im not. I enjoyed the conversation led by you surrounding the DD promotion, so that shouldnt be brought into this topic.
There are however, some people (and im not sure whether you are part of this group or not) that are very quick to point out the negative things regarding each promotion because of the way it affects them, without thinking of the positive/negative implications on the whole playing community - not merely a minority or an individual.
How about getting excited about the upcoming season, instead of harping on about things in the past that cannot be changed. Yes they should inform future decisions, but we dont own a time machine do we....

macca, I was not going to get into this, yet here I am.
Most players don't give a hoot about how things affect other players, or the majority, they are only concerned about how things affect them. and to not be told about a partners/team game - when it is such a great thing, was disheartening - and I am allowed to feel like that.
Npl has a dd promotion (not having a go, just making a point) to encourage people to play more at a time when numbers often fall away - that did not appeal to a lot of us - but then they reward those who did play, with a special event as a bonus or a surprise.
can't you see that if we had known about this, it would have given us a reason to keep playing cos we had nothing to play for because of dd. but had we known, we could have used dd to our advantage and to those who gave up and practically ended their season early december, you would have had more players due to being able to qualify for something else. It would have given us another goal, something positive to look forward to - instead of the negativity we shared re dd.
If you can't understand where I am coming from , then I feel my friend, that you are only looking at one side of it, not me.
every season I get excited about the new changes (regardless of whether I agree/disagree or like/dislike them) and I promote in my region - you can ask any TD in Metro West who knows me - and I gather momentum and positivity to play more and achieve more and encourage and invite to different venues and explain formats, how to qualify and so on and so on...
and people come and ask me how this or that works or about rules or qualifying - they know I play a lot of poker and I have a good understanding of the rules. every time I get to the end of a season, where I have encouraged a player to say - play every week in this venue so they can win a table or a chip set, I am made look like the idiot because that prize has vanished... or recognition for that has been diminished.
I used to be a fierce competitor and play 6-7 times a week. Now I play socially with some friends, once or twice a week if I have nothing else on. the prizes now matter little to me. the recognition now matters little to me. After 2 years of playing, I am now just one of those players who comes along 1-2 times a week to play poker with their friends.
that way I can't be disappointed about anything, I won't have anything to whinge about and I won't have an opinion on anything. and I won't know anything to be able to tell players, so how easy will that be for me. just a fun, social game of poker

Re: $25,000 Season 5 Finals Venue and Changed Format.
Garth,
Just wondering how exactly the teams event is going to be played. Will the top 10 from each region be broken into pairs and play off against the other qualifiers from their own region or other regions etc?
Cheers,
Brad.
