Yet to be ascertained, but if I ever change my name to Big Pete then the title is warranted.

I was born in Victoria, moved to Qld at the age of two, then spent most of my adolescent life (high school years) growing up in NSW. Went to Uni in Queensland and then moved to Melbourne to look after my grandmother.

After several years in Melbourne my parents decided to purchase hotels in the Latrobe Valley, then I moved to Morwell/Churchill to work in the pub trade.

I was then hired by some carp poker league that both my brother and I left after we got sick of the lies to players and the deception and the fact we were paid peanuts.

I was then picked up by a great company that initally had the idea to send me to Tasmania to take on operations in that little state, within two weeks it was decided that my "skills and talents" would be better served in South Australia.

SA accepted me and then adopted me, my parents and my brother now work in Western Australia and i haven't seen them in over a year and a half now. They are now a big part of the Broome WA community.

So we are a family of many different states and I don't buy into the state rivalry nor do I declare I am of the state od ???. I am Australian.

Not that big, Only in the hotels we work at. :-). And you saw me in September too.

At the moment i am still classifying myself as Victorian, Mainly because i need to explain the complete lack of being unable to drink. Though must admit definitely am improving another month and i will be a West Australian or Sand Groper.

I prefer one seating. It gives you all the same playing field .. at Noble Park, I was left with $1200 in chips at the break and had to wait around for hours, waiting to play again ...well, I could have gone home and not come back, I did have a choice, but I wanted to play.

when I came back, the blinds were 500/1000 and I was all in first hand, pocket queens, they held up and I escalated to over 7000. the very next hand I got rubbish, and folded my big blind due to an all in far above what I had. then I got pocket aces and went all in again with my $6000 odd. I got one caller and they held to make my stack over $13,000. I then got moved, sat tight for a bit watching the table play, and took a couple of nice, but small pots. I then got pocket kings and went all in preflop again. I was called by AJ and he hit the ace on the river - but not before I'd had the chance to play some great poker.

but some of us are not as young as we used to be, and the day really took it out of us .... I have played one flight before, and although I was emotionally drained at the end, having qualified for the state grand final due to my placing, which was then miscounted and caused a lot of hearts to stop beating while it was sorted out ... phew ....

and a whole poker weekend ...wow ... am I dreaming ??? mmmm... as I work friday, sat and sun only, I need to get time off to do these wonderful things. In the 'past' there has not been very much notice of where and when the finals will be held. the more notice the better. My boss is a sporting athlete who competes at National and Australian levels, so I have to work with him in order to get a weekend off. I have rarely played finals this year due to the start time and my work committments..

ALl of our finals (read: Championship Series) will now be a full weekend of poker.

I think many players are excited by this. I hope our regional players look upon it at the same way, as many players who haven't qualified still have the opportunity to play other events.

Like Garth I'm an Australian first why because I spent many years in the Defence Force, home was almost every state, moves were every few years and time was spent in WA SA Vic NSW QLd and NT hence we are an Australian family my 3 sons were born in different states WA Qld and NT. As a family we are spread over 4 states SA Vic NSW and Qld.

I agree that a single flight is the best option, just ithink having to drive 40 mins from 1 side of the city to the other how stressful that would be I just cannot comprehend the pressure they would feel.

Now us country players ( Not including Gawler) do not blink an eye at the likelyhood of driving a few hours to play a final and then drive home afterwards.

As for a central location for Gumsuckers/Mexicans(Victorians) to play perhaps depending on the where the greater volume of regional players live east or west of the Hume Hwy. With that in mind perhaps some outer suburdan locations may be better suited like,Craigieburn or Lillydale. And a deep stack event like Berri's at Wangaratta or Albury/wodonga.

And for SA the Port Club is fine just start a little earlier please.

I can finally post a reply, yay! Been trying to for ages.

I'm all for one seating, single flight is awesome. That way you don't have to worry about waiting around for your next flight, having to push because you don't want to come back to a small stack, a late start (3pm flight or something - and state finals should be a whole day thing), etc.

State finals really is an awesome weekend (that's why this championship series is gonna rock so much). Its about the adventure, the drive up, railing mates, all that jazz. And one seating really enriches the experience.

I would prefer one flight but where that is difficult what about simultaneous commencement at two venues. After say the third break those remaining could reconvene at one of the venues or you could even use a third venue to finish it off.
