5 players from up river played at waikerie last night 4 made final table and same 4 was in the last players remaining at the table. So easy where is the competition from waikerie, just like taking candy (money) from the baby they must be just mongo's
Good going Todd another winner from up river

Re: waikerie heros
Well "Just Me" im sure your intention was to stir the pot and you have achieved that, this big fish has taken your bait.
You certainly are the big man aren't you mate. Slandering an entire venue and its regulars on what 1 or maybe 2 visits.
Now I will be the first to admit that playing at Waikerie presents certain challenges (we have talked about Waikerie in past posts, and not always postively)
but hey, you cant expect to get the same game, every time you play mate, each place you play will have its quirks/differences because of its regular player base.
But to call an entire venue a bunch of mongo's is going a bit too far.
Let me ask you a few questions.
How many up river players have qualified to states through Waikerie (and we would average 5 per night, that used to be nearly 10 in the early seasons)- The answer is 1 - Fred fuller once.
But i can think of 3 waikerie players that qualified to states up river at cobby just last season. So does that make Cobby a bunch of non thinking players too.
I could list at least a dozen seperate players and it would realistically be more that have won at least one tournament up river. And that doesnt count multiple winners, of which we have a few.
Waikerie players have won 2 of the largest games in the past few years being the friday Berri game before the deepstack and also the Teams event this year at Renmark.
And we have had players in the top 3 of regionals for the past 2 years.
As well as having 2 make final table at this years Regional and i think 5 of the top 10 were from waikerie at the regional finals before that, thats a pretty bloody good hit ratio for 1 venue considering there are 6 or 7 other venues.
Waikerie won the Teams event this year at renmark, not bad for a bunch of mongos, including the highest finishing team captian, 2 final talbeists and eventual winner as well as thrashing the pants of the other towns by so much that the result was called well before the match was over.
So im sure you are starting to see the picture i am painting,
The players at waikerie certainly have done well up river the past few years for a bunch of MONGO's
I tell you what mate, how bout you base your incorect assumptions on an entire season at waikerie, and if you finish in the top 5 then you will have proved your point.
But what if you dont !!!
My last question too you "Just Me" is this.
How does going on record in a public forum to put down an entire venue and its players do Poker, the NPL or the Waikerie Club any favours.
Seriously this sort of comment only does all 3 harm and seriously paints you in a bad light, and shows that you only consider your self and do not respect the game at all.

Re: waikerie heros
Krunchie has got it covered pretty well, John you made need some asistance to remove both feet from your mouth.
Remember you are a visitor in our club, also just because you have made final table from 2 visits with a win and a 4th, it no way makes you an expert on the venue yet, of all the up river players who make the time to play at Waikerie, Demo and Fred rarely miss a week, and until Cobby started Ian and Ed were regulars, outside them I reckon there is not another up river player who has made the top 10.
When it comes to venue prizes other than RFC, Waikerie has the best and most liberal usage of venue vouchers of all the Riverland venues.
So John when you get you feet out of your mouth we look forward to a sensible and coherent post, if possible.

Re: waikerie heros
John, i was considering not replying to this post but i feel i have to.
Now i don't consider myself to be a guru at poker by any stretch of the means, but i have read a little about the game. Conversations with you at the poker table are hard, cos you often quote phrases about pot-odds, the odds of hitting certain hands or getting certain cards that are just plain WRONG.
At the table you act like an expert, quoting such odds that you (quote) "saw on world poker tour" that are just plain wrong.
example.
a player on our table commented that "they never get aces, when others always do". I said, well the odds are about one in 225 to get aces.
You said "no, its about one in 245-250". Ok heres where you let yourslef down, because this is just plain wrong.
chances of getting aces are 1/13 x 3/52, which = 3/676 or 1 in 225.3 hands.
That was just one example of many. so you will excuse me if i dont take you seriously in any poker related conversation.
I think your comment about how carp waikeries players are says more about you then about them. I have found success in waikerie much harder to come by then other venues in the riverland, but you dont hear others saying how carp the players are at these other venues (side note: i haven't missed the final table at the cobdogla club in 6 appearances there - thats a regular venue of yours isnt it john?)
using myself as an example. in 46 games at waikerie i point 56% of the time (26 times)
in 15 games at up river venues i point 80% of the time (12 times). This does not include the two regional finals i have played at (final tabling them both).
If anything, this says the standard is higher at waikerie.
I find it really dissapointing that comments are made like this about a venue that is trying desperatley to hold onto numbers, and attract further players from up-river to come down and play.
Poor form mate.

I'm not going to comment on this thread other than to say, John, when your peers speak up like this, you have 2 options, I hope you decide the correct one and take on board what they have said.
