TD Dealers

Postby torch » Fri Jan 18, 2008 8:37 am

HI There, I was wondering what everyone thinks about the quality of td's dealing? I find some are very good but there a a couple that i think, try to look as if they're are highly professional & end up flicking the cards to quick and fast & inturn they flip over. I have seen this done by someone a few times on the final table & others have missed out on having pockets due to this. It has not happened with my cards (yet). I would like to see them slow down their dealing if theyre not 100% confident of flicking them at peoples chips. What do you all think? Has this happened to you?

Tournament Director's Dealing is formed from their own experience as TD. they are not professional dealers unlike casino poker dealers but they are doing the best of their ability to deal cards. You are right about dealing fast - they dont have to be as long you are dealing the cards right! If you ever confront this kind of situation, why dont you tell the TD dealer to slow down or telll them what you think. All TD Dealers deal in their own kind of way...Hope this answers your query.

Torch,
What dealers are you having problems with please? A lot of our TD's are casino trained actually and several others have taken it upon themselves to learn from these casino trained guys.
We will be implementing further and more advanced training for staff over the next several months to try and rectify these problems.

torch, regardless of whether a dealer deals fast or slow, there will always be times when cards flick over. It doesn't matter whether they've dealt for a week or 10 years, it's always going to happen. You will probably find that the majority of the reason why cards flick over is, because of the air conditioning at any given venue, players hands in the way, and old cards. dude have u ever flicked over a card when u were dealing? of course u have. everybodys done it. nuff said cheers

Hey, that's my joke ;)

Moose is pretty good, dealt me some amazing cards when I won at the Kingsford. AA first hand, QJ (followed by a Q, J, 4 flop) Q10, J10... managed to win on most of them.

But yeah, cards are bound to flick over now and then.

Oh I'm looking at Moose with a frown

It's happened a few times when I've been playing over the seasons so far, but I agree with Dakota that sometimes it just plain happens. Sure sometimes it was a card that you would have liked to have bet with, but sometimes it's also something that you would have thrown away as soon as you saw it.

In regards to cards flicking over no matter where you play whether it be NPL or at the Casino the dealers are only human and every now and then a card might be exposed. Every player has the oppurtunity to see the exposed card. Therefore no advantage given to any player. I have dealt poker for almost 2 years professionally and I will expose a card at least once a week. It happens life goes on. If any need any tips I am always willing to help where ever i can..
