I think its a great idea ..

Ive been down on results and final table points in the first half of this season but now I ve a reason to show up and fold to even more points...
it only renhances ' the chip and a chair theory ' and lets get lucky or the " any two cards" or even the allin I'm going home play.. type of 'pub poker player ideals...

by the way who complains when someone gets extra chips/ redrawn at the second break and plays on to a win or high points..or F/tables...

clever business People....these NPLsters..

Hi all,

Sorry it has taken me a while to respond, but I’m still working out where stuff is on the forum.

Firstly, Double December was inspired by a promotion Crown Casino offers during their Player of the Year competition. Through-out the course of the year, double points events are held to give those players the chance to catch up to the leaders, and consequently, the leaders have the chance to pull away from the pack. These events are generally announced with a few weeks warning.

Secondly, NPL is about fun, fair, free poker that is enjoyed by thousands of Aussies every week. We endeavour to deliver a product that keeps people coming down to their local venue, meet new friends, and continue to develop their poker skills.

The three F’s of NPL poker starts with ‘fun’ for a reason. As much as we’d love to claim that we could produce the next Joe Hachem, we genuinely aim to create a night of interactive entertainment, not compete to find the counties best poker player.

So this Christmas, during an economic period that some are calling dire, we’re looking to put some “free fun into your flop” with double points. All players have access to win these points, so there is no unfair advantage. For those players who have already done well this first half of the season, we’re sure you’ll continue to dominate all the way through until Dec 21st.

Lastly, it is very important to us that we receive your feedback about our poker product, therfore we appreciate the time contributed by the users of this forum.

It is very expensive free poker tho? and NPL has usually prided themselves on bringing the players along with promotions, this one seems to have slipped thru. Hell, there may well be a good reason they've got for springing it so late, like, "hey, if we tell everyone they'll get double points in december, they won't bother coming early in the season."

But it would still suck for those who have been chasing certain leaderboards who will not be able to maintain regular appearances as the festive season comes to a head.

note: doesn't bother me one little bit, as I won't be here :D but i'd rather not have this pulled on me without prior knowledge next year when I am chasing a spot in final etc again.

the reason it was introduced is money, its a ploy to get players to think, wow double points im gonna go play more free poker which isnt really free if you want ur extra chips

good marketing

Fair response Carlos, can't really argue with that, and I'm sure next time it will go down a lot smoother - it might have been wise at the start of the season to say "at some point this season, we'll have a double points period" tho.

I don't personally mind the idea, just seems the last few weeks leading into xmas might be a time when some very regular players have trouble keeping up their appearances due to work and family commitments. Whilst you'd get this all thru the year, xmas does see a LOT of people having commitments they might not have at other times of the year.

Just my 2c anyway.

I assume you have tongue in cheek with your comments that I highlighted Bruce.

Surely, we don't need to encourage that sort of player ...........or do we???? :o

I thought you would encourage the fixed points system considering your latest windfall. ;)

When I heard about the promo, I thought "again". Wasn't this, or something similar, in play last year?

i dont see it as much of a problem - if the players that are top 5 in the first 5 weeks continue their form, then they will still be top 5.

it will be good for me personally, as i have missed a couple of games at my regular venue and it will be good for me to climb back up the leaderboard.
