Geez I know this isn't a post about Gawler like the usual (and don't go crazy that is a slight minded joke) but I should be able to post something based on opinion about a venue I have attended and an area I do actually work in... come on

we are players, the admin are players, they are not employed by NPL

so yes, you can whinge on here - but if you actually want something done about it, then speak to management

Nick - if, by "trash hotels at will", you are posting in the physical sense, then this is clearly an issue that the venue management would take up with the NPL directly. But I am unsure as to the parameters in which you say "trash at will".

benny the cunt is right in saying that if there is a serious issue at a given venue, posting on here about it will not get to the root of the problem.

Just to reiterate, the OP was not casting aspersions on the behaviour of players at the Semaphore Palais.

OK look. I was steamed that night. "stormed out" is probably a bit strong for my departure but I am pretty peeved. (I did lose my chips first and then leave but didn't play bad beats ;) ) And Alex, you're right in your comments too. The Palais have been a good venue. That is why I am "acting like a baby" (thanks @AceLosesKing for your engaging reply) I am dissapointed for many reasons. Not least of which the Palais great staff, the regular players and the fantastic views. But the reason I love NPL so much is because I get to play the game I love, meet new people, and enjoy a bevvy or two IN A GREAT VENUE.

I have invested time and money in the NPL in the Palais and I don't want them to stop games there. It's my night out.

And "I aint gonna spend another cent there" bit strong too eh. As I said I was steamed. So perhaps a more positive thing to do would be follow Alex's lead and say.......GET YOUR BACKSIDE TO THE PALAIS AND BRING YOUR MATES! maybe post renos I'll get my wishes and they'll be back on board......
Nuff said.

You'll be without me tonight as well, I'm covering a random TD shift.

Apologies to all those who were looking forward to getting rivered by my celebrity dealing tonight :)

Hopefully back to normal in 3 weeks.

WELL RETRACTED RHYS MY FRIEND. Gang, the fact of the matter is that as most of you know, the Palais is undergoing renovations...There are times when we will have to use the Ballroom for other purposes, eg storage. The main issue is that we feel that the usual atmosphere and great product that we supply every week would be compromised by the ongoing building that surrounds us every day. We fully plan on rejoining the NPL after the work is finished sometime in the new year and look forward to it. Our relationship with the NPL has been excellent from the beginning and we see no reason why it can't be so again.
On a personal note, thank you to those who have supported us for so long and also those who have supported us on this very thread. Alex has been a staunch supporter of ours for a long time now and we wouldn't have been so strong without him. Appreciate your comments BigPete and we'd love to see you down here soon. Thanks again folks and we'll see you all again in the new year. Merry Christmas....Matt.
