PLAYING POKER AND MOB PHONE'S

Postby checkerchic » Thu Jan 17, 2008 9:49 am

WHATS PEOPLE'S THOUGHTS ON... phone call's... recieving them and making them while playing poker :!:

If we were at the cinema's we would normally have them off or turned to silent... and yes I know you get the odd person who forgets to do this...

At Poker we do have breaks... Can ppl not turn off or turn down (silent) and check/call others in the breaks and just get on with the game :?:

Emergency workers on stand by have an excuse ;)

It's just plain rude.... particularly when your holding up the game/hand because of it. I have to admit that I'm guilty of phone usage at the table as well though. My 'excuse' is that others do it so why not ;) Poor form, but eh.

But I'm all for not using your phone at the table. TD Darren actually specifically said not to break out the phone when I played at one of his games or you'd be incurring a time penalty. Oddly enough, it did ring and I didn't answer it.

I guess it depends on the situation

I'll answer it and get up, assuming I'm out of the hand and depending on who it is. I also understand if others do the same.

At Pooraka recently, someone had their phone ring whilst in a hand, they were UTG I think ... the bet was with them, and they answered and talked for a good 60 seconds or so... then said "I gotta go" and then folded.

I found that really rude.

No one and I mean noone, should be seating at a table using a mobile phone. If they wish to use a phone then they must stand up and move away from the table. Hands are mucked accordingly.
This shits me up the wall, unfortunately I can't turn my phone on silent but I will get up from the table and walk away. I need my phone on 24/7 so I can get threatening phone calls from unhappy and paranoid psychotic players.

Agree

But if a player persists to use the phone and not walk away the TD should give a penalty (either time or blinds)
