Todd didn't want it on the saturday to begin with (from what I can see).

If you are busy and can't make it then that's just how it is.

exactly - so why is todd having a go at them? by the sound of it, its not todds or the players fault that it is on a sat afternoon.

With all due respect I will turn the heat up a bit.

The venue has become unavailable for its normal night, the only free day on the calender is Sat. Sat night is the Regional final at the venue so what a great idea to have a warm up event prior to the regional final.

Think about it Todd has gone the extra 9 yards to make something better by having the regular NPL game before hand as a warm up, through smart thinking add a teams event to that game to encourage more players, add to that the winning team get dinner for 6 that night and Todd is working on an increased prize pool for the regular game.[/color]
Heck the bloke worked his ar$e off to enhance the day, stop being negative applaude the bloke for his efforts, next time he might say bugger it why should I do anything extra.

If you cannot play just say so no, I know I will be there and appreciate Todds efforts win or loose.

Thumbs up Todd

gundog i couldnt agree more

if you go and read this thread from the start i think you will find both macca and I have given our full support to this idea on numerous posts, and both of us have also said that in the end it is our own problem for not being able to make it,

not todds

we have both made an effort in our posts to play down this discusion so it did not get personal.

My issue with todds post is the section where he is having a go at us purely for us not being able to make it.

Todd Rivers wrote: Hopefully they will make the team if some of "the selected ones" doesn't wanna come cause he's got a tea party to go to or has to play tennis or lawn bowls or something.

Yet the guys selected as Captain and maybe replacement Captain are having a little whinge about being too popular to be able to choose what to do with their Sat Arvo! :D

Just name a team by 2nite and give it to Petro, or, is that all too hard? ;)

and my exception with this is purlely because i belive it is unfair.

At no stage have we had a go at todd personally or his organising of this event, as i said we have both posted how much we like the idea.

All we have done is say how much we want to go and how dissapointing it is if we cant - no more no less

It just seemed like the post above started to get a bit personal, so i took exception to it.

This is the first of what i hope is many of this type of event, and i would like think that Todd and his charges would be looking to improve this concept over time.

So what this highlights is that there is a small group of players who love the idea but will have difficulty supporting it if it is on saturday afternoons.

Thats what this all comes down to. If it was any other day or time it wouldnt have even rated a mention and there would be no discussion.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Alls Good but I can see both side of the picture.

Toddy may have got a burr under his saddle at first but later retacted his comments at little.

Most would love to play but other committments come first, wether its family or sport its their choice.

But then again I must take some responsibility for the evolution of this thread, it was a short phone call to macca advising him of the teams event, which at the time I too thought it was part of the Reg final, however when I was able to actually read the entire sheet, it was clearly stated to be part of the prelude to the Reg Final.

I'm very confident that we will have a full team for the teams event, if any of 7 nominated players are unavailable for what ever reason I think there will be others willing to fill any vacent spots.

This all got a bit arky guys. hey i was annoyed that i couldnt get there, not because it was organised on the time and day that it was.

Thumbs up toddy, for being innovative and adding something extra to the regional finals. Wish i could attend. I look forward to the next one, but rest assured ill have a good time at my tea party on the weekend :D :D :D ;)

:D

Yes, toungue in cheek, always Krunchie, always!

Just to clarify a few things.

Didn't have to do it, totally my idea of adding something extra for the players. Whether or not it happens again is whether or not I can be bothered putting in the effort. Its totally up to me. Its a local thing, not an NPL thing.

Do you know that I have a full time job, other than poker?
Do you know that I have played footy for the last 19 years straight now?
Did you now that I have played cricket for the last 7 years straight?

I guarantee you it'd be unlikely that i'd missed more than a dozen Saturdays over that period for BOTH sports!

So i know about commitment to sports, and what it takes to give it up.

Ultimately, do whatever works best for YOU.
SO WHAT if Waikerie isn't represented by the best players, they weren't available, they had other commitments, just dont whinge that you CAN'T go. The decision is yours alone. :D

Great reply todd

Im completley cool with that mate.

Im not glad that this whole thing came across as a "winge" it was never intended to be, rather a discussion about a great event.

In the end the decison was made easy, im letting the missus go shopping in return for a day a the poker ( yes it will cost my wallet but if thats what it takes)

Unfortunatley 4 of our starting 7 line up was not avalible due to other comitments including sport but we have put what i belive to be a competivie side together and are looking foward to saturdays challenge.

Bring it on :D

Excellent.
Got your PM with the teams.

Don't worry, everything's a whinge to me after midnight.

There is extra ca$h up for grabs in the early game for the eventual winner and there's a share of $1500 later so maybe you'll juuuuust cover what the missus spends if you win BOTH! :)
