Also, there's a little tournament called the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup Japan.

the 7 Champions of their respective Confederations(region if you will) play off in December for million dollar prizes. So the winner of the AFC champions league gets entry into this exclusive tournament (which includes the already qualified UEFA champions, Manchester United). That is kinda what we're playing for...

Except for the fact that if we get into the finals of the AFC...

WIN or LOSE

We get to be in the CLUB WORLD CUP!!!

Win we get into the quaterfinals, lose we have to play a playoff against Waitakere United (Oceania champions, New Zealand team) It's a condition about the Host nation qualifying. http://www.fifa.com/clubworldcup/qualifiers/index.html

Fun, fun, fun. Possibility of Adelaide United v Manchester United. The Red match.

I certainly dont want to upset anyone by this but im not sure i would like to see that happen
to me the gap is too huge, an embarasment worse than our grandfinal loss melbourne could be on the cards

I suppose its a good discusion point though

Could the Reds (adelaide) survive for 90 minutes against a full strength Manchester United side without it looking like Adelaide United playing and under 13's side ( if you get my meaning)
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Not being a socc, er, FOOTBALL expert, but isn't that one of the "charms" of the game? That the best team doesn't always win? whereas in AFL you'll generally find the best team comes out on top.

Anyway, would you like to play with Negrano, Hachem, Ivey, etc, etc? I know I sure would - not to win, but for the experience, and if I was a professional, for the exposure, sponsorship etc.

I certainly think Adelaide would be embarrassingly outclassed, but that really wouldn't be the point. Good discussion point.

It's an extremely short tournament (World Club Championship) and as mentioned earlier if Adelaide win the final of the Asian Champions League then they're right into the 1/4's.

Manure are there because they won the European Champions League and I can't remember but that'd hafta be semi final material automatically. They'll be fielding a strong side for sure, assuming they actually want to win it.

Also, the refereeing standard is perhaps not as good as it could be - so anyone can still beat anyone.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

fair enough

anyone can beat anyone, i mean adelaide were supposed to get smashed by kashima and by the uzbeki side that i cant be arsed spelling

but man u is definitely 2 or 3 classes above those teams. i mean the national team would be hard pressed to compete against man u when both sides are at full strength, so adelaide united wont stand a chance

but just being able to walk onto the same pitch as equals with those players would be every players dream

i know and understand what your saying but it all sounds great before the match, up untill you actually get flogged, but then your left afterwards feeling like shit cause you lost by 10 goal, and didnt give your idols any competition.
not saying wow i just played on the park with rhinaldo

as a proffesional athelete the players would only be happy if the matched it with them or only lost by a couple.

as for the poker - Yeah i too would love to play the big boys but the only way that is going to happen is if you play for big money and after i had my ass handed to me and lost my 100k i wouldnt be saying wow i just played with phil ivey, id be saying crap i just lost 100k, and looked like an idiot doing it.
exactly the same as the soccer.

Not long to go now before Adelaide attempt to make history (again) !

Seems as though they've had all sorts of crazy hurdles to jump over on their way to Tashkent. Reminds me a little bit of the World Cup Qualifier in Uraguay but without the opposition being outright dirty.

To top it all off, they've a game to play in the A-league not long after they get back! Poor Robbie wont have the energy to lift his fingies for that crazy goal celebration :P

cant wait

what do you reckon the tactics will be? will they keep them to less than 3 goals if they just sit on their own goal line the whole night? or do you reckon its worth trying to score at least 1 goal, because this will probably seal it.
